Growing up in Monaghan, we used Ulster-Scots words like ‘teeming’ when it was pouring rain or ‘sheugh’ to refer to a ditch.

Today we remember the tragedy of the Carrickmines fire (2015), which took 11 lives including children. It was the worst fire in Ireland since the Stardust tragedy.
