If youβre young, one of the main ways you can add value at work is by taking advantage of a lack of family responsibilities to just take annoying shit on and be helpful.

At @AsteraInstitute, we've adopted a strong stance against journal publishing: We don't do it, or fund projects that contribute to it. In today's Human Readable, our cofounder @seemaychou talks about why the journal system is so broken, and why half-measures can't fix it.
Love when @mattyglesias does local politics. Co-sign this. Build the bridge to Loudoun @Marc_Elrich! Reston <-> Gaithersburg connection would let tech people live in MD and biotech people live in VA. With no Legion Bridge standing in the way. Win-win! https://t.co/I5OnzNEJWu
How geography shapes nations: a quantitative framework based on minimizing transportation costs and fitting European borders over the past 1000 years, from @treballen https://t.co/LEUoRNDZN7

Count me in! But adding infrastructure for carpool/vanpool and buses, public and private, to run down 270 and around the beltway in nova would be a big deal. People need to be able to imagine how an affordable/reliable commute would work. @iamwesmoore@GovernorVA
If the region really went all in on congestion pricing its highways then all of the sudden "making slugging work at scale" becomes a potentially hugely profitable business opportunity. Uber/lyft or others work to solve and commutes become better for everybody.
