Marie-Therese Murray protests on Garvaghy Rd. She holds a photo of her 12 yr-old son Darren, who was knocked down and killed 30 years ago after being chased by loyalists. She rarely speaks about her loss but felt she had to protest today for “next generation” @IrishTimes
It’s not about 35 orange men getting down the Garvaghy Road, it’s about what it stands for. It brought this place close to civil war in the 90’s and resulted in over 20 murders.
It was brought to a close for a reason.
It was unacceptable then, it’s unacceptable now.
Here’s another major point that the media haven’t particularly highlighted when it comes to Drumcree.
There is another route available to the Orange Order to return “home”, but they refuse to take it because it doesn’t provide the same element of triumphalism.
Never forget how loyalist reacted when they didn't want catholic school children walking past their houses. They absurd them and threw piss at them. Don't be fooled by their sound bites
Terrible indictment that in 2026 this is happening all over again after 28 years.
A nationalist/Catholic community placed under siege, for the 'crime' of standing up for their natural rights and justice.
The OO and the KKK are one and the same.
Now we must ask.
Why did the PSNI make a false assessment/lie to the parades commission in favour of allowing the Orange Order to walk down Garvaghy Road.
