I love that my timeline is full of happiness and good things!
Deleted the drama. Blocked the bullshit. Nullified the negativity. Cancelled the kak. And muted the mean.
My Twitter is a safe, joyful place for me.
A solid reminder that Twitter is not toxic, some of you are. 👀
If you were flying to the UK tomorrow... and you were filling out the new SARS declaration (on the App), which option would you choose, if you couldn't see the rest of the words?
Like, there is no way to see the rest of the words.
Hypothetically, obviously.
*Also, in this situation, you are not a UK "citizen" or "dependant" or "subject"... so... which do you choose?
I know this is not a big thing, and in all that is happening in the world, it really doesn't matter... but my WhatsApp has updated on my Mac and even though all the settings have been switched off, it keeps auto-downloading EVERYTHING. My downloads folder on my machine is moer full of kak. 😭
It’s time to start living life like everything is working out for us.
Cause here’s a little secret…
It already is.
You heard me right. It’s working out. Even if it doesn’t feel like it right now… it will. Eventually.
It will all fall into place. For the best. When it needs to. As it should.
And when it does, you’ll breathe a sigh of relief. Your jaw will unclench. Your shoulders will relax. And you’ll feel the weight of the world lift off your shoulders.
Everything happens for a reason.
And I know that sounds “lank” cliché. Like, you may be swearing at me right now… asking why TF is this happening? Explain that Brenty?!? But I believe if you give it a moment. If you take a breather. If you zoom out. Or maybe lean in. You’ll see it.
It is all working out for us.
And maybe, I dunno, maybe you needed to hear that. Maybe you needed to hear that you are doing far better than you think. That you are on the right track. And that you’re going to be okay.
Here’s to things working out for all of us gurl. Raise your mimosas to that! 🥂
Okay. Love you. Bye.
You need to watch this.
I don't think the trailer did it justice.
It is so heartwarming. It's sincere. And rewarding. And full of heart... all the heart. I thought it was a kid's movie. Turns out, it is so much more... and it was exactly what I needed. ❤️
Good news for South African ballet (and for South Africa).
Candice Desilets has made history as the first South African ever to graduate from the prestigious Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia, one of the most respected ballet schools in the world.
Candice began her training at the Russian School of Ballet in Parkhurst before moving overseas to pursue her dream. Her graduation is even more remarkable because she completed her final exam with two fractures in her leg!!!!
The Vaganova Academy has produced ballet legends including Anna Pavlova, Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov, with only a handful of students making it through to graduation each year.
Candice’s incredible achievement is an incredible personal milestone but it's also an inspiring moment for South African dancers everywhere. ❤️🇿🇦
Her full story, written by one of our goodies, Savanna Douglas, is on @GoodThingsGuy and was my chosen story for my @947 Monday feature today.

Before playlists and streaming... There were CDs.
Before social media... There were packed dance floors.
This week on Good Things with Brent Lindeque, we sit down with the legendary Lady Lea, one of South Africa's most influential DJs, entrepreneurs and mentors.
From spinning records at just 14 years old to becoming a pioneer of dance music, her journey is nothing short of extraordinary.

You may not remember.
But this was my first logo. It was created in 2015. It was me. Reading a newspaper. Look at that hair gurl. And the glasses. Ja, I used to wear glasses. From the age of 7 or 8, actually. And then at some point contact lenses. And then lenses that I slept in to reshape my cornea, so that I could see unassisted the next day. Science is fantastic. And a little weird. And then I got PRK… it’s laser surgery… but not lasik. BEST thing I ever did. No more glasses. Ever. Vibes.
I digress. A lot. Jammer.
This was my old logo. She retired in 2019. She was only 4 years old.
But the team had grown. And it was no longer about “just” me.
A good friend, SJ, contacted me and we started working on the new “brand”. He is so bladdy talented. We worked on a new logo (and an entire platform update) that encompassed everything that Good Things Guy had become. And was becoming.
A smile was born. Well, a “G” with a smile. But a smile.
It’s been 7 years since that logo change. And so much has happened. We have become what we set out to be. A place for happiness. And for smiles.
“Good words. Good thoughts. Good deeds.”
In 1 month, we turn 11 years old. And I don’t think that’s a small feat. A little idea to share 1 good news story with the world every single day has grown into South Africa’s top good news site. A real business. And we now share over 100 stories every week. Only good things.
Jussie, when I look at that old logo, I don't just see the "old" design… I see hope. I see someone taking a chance on an idea that made absolutely no sense on paper. I see a stock-standard-average guy who thought that maybe, just maybe, if we shared enough good news, people might start believing in South Africa a little more. Or at the very least, believe in each other a little more.
And then all of you arrived. The helpers, the heroes and the healers.
Our readers. The people who send us stories every single day. South Africans who never think what they've done is newsworthy. The brands who believed in us before everyone else did. The team who pour their hearts into this mission. The goodies! None of this belongs to me anymore. It belongs to all of us.
I often say that good news doesn't ignore the hard stuff. It reminds us that the hard stuff isn't the whole story. Two things can be true at the same time. Life can be messy and beautiful. We can be worried about tomorrow and still find reasons to smile today.
And I am smiling.
11 years later, I still wake up every single morning excited to find the next story. The next ordinary South African doing something extraordinary. The next reminder that kindness is contagious. That generosity spreads. That hope has a ripple effect. And that good things do exist.
Today I'm also feeling grateful.
Grateful that you keep reading. Grateful that you keep sharing. Grateful that you keep supporting. And grateful that you proved there was space for a platform like this.
I’m not sure where I am going with this.
Maybe, it’s just that the smallest ideas have a funny way of changing lives... if we give them a chance.
11 years ago, Good Things Guy was just one story. Today, it is so much more. Imagine what the next 11 years might look like if every one of us keeps choosing to add a little more good to the world. Ja, just imagine?
Also, it’s always 11.
Okay. Love you. Bye.
Thank you, Daybreak House, for joining The Helpers and believing in a collective place to highlight the good in South Africa.

Rikus de Beer joins Brent to talk about the journey behind Jonathan from Radioraps, the power of humour, the realities of entrepreneurship and why suffering can often become the foundation for something greater.
A reminder that success is rarely a straight line.

Take two minutes to reset your week.
This week's Good Things Guy Weekly Wrap-Up is filled with the stories that made us stop, smile and remember why we do what we do.
From everyday acts of kindness to extraordinary South Africans making a difference, these are the five stories that prove there's always something worth celebrating.
The headlines don't always tell the full story, but that's where we come in.
If one of these stories made you smile, share it with someone who could use a little good news today.
Friends, here are a few “Laws of Life” you never knew you needed.
Consider this your motivation boost for today.
Law of Acceptance: Finding peace and contentment starts with acceptance. Write down the things that make you happy and do them daily. Step and repeat.
Law of Failure: Sometimes things need to fall apart for better things to fall into place. It’s hard to think like that… especially if you’re “in it”. But once you get through it… or zoom out, you will see the better thing. I promise.
Law of Authenticity: Be yourself, even when others don't get it. You are who you are and that's bladdy awesome. Even if someone doesn’t like your hair. It doesn’t matter. Do you, boo.
Law of Reflection: The beauty you see around you reflects the beauty within you.
Law of Permanence: A masterpiece remains a masterpiece, even if the lights are off and no one's around to see it. This is a powerful way of thinking.
Law of Balance: A fulfilling life is all about balance. Everything is about balance. Keep things in check and you'll thrive!
Law of Acquisition: You can't give what you don't have. You can only connect with others as deeply as you've connected with yourself. You can only meet someone as far as you have met yourself.
Law of Constant Flow: Life is ever-changing. You won't cross the same river twice or meet the same person twice, even if they're the same person (or the same river). Things change. Embrace it!
Law of Growth: Personal growth is a journey. Keep learning, embrace challenges and welcome the change (the constant flow). It's all part of living a meaningful life.
Law of Gratitude: Gratitude can transform your perspective and bring more joy into your life. Focus on what you're grateful for, big or small and watch the positive vibes flow. My belief has always been that gratitude equals happiness.
And a bonus, because why not (and because I love 11).
Law of Carpe Diem: Don't let a Monday ruin your Sunday, or a horrible Tuesday bleed into your Wednesday… or any day for that matter. We've only got one life. Live it to the fullest, every minute, every second.
That's it.
11 laws and I didn’t even go to law school.
Okay. Love you. Bye.
It's Wednesday, which means it's new poddie day!
And this week, I sit down with Rikus de Beer, the man behind the wildly popular Radio Raps character, Jonathan.
I thought this was going to be funny. Turns out Rikus is so bladdy inspirational! ❤️🇿🇦
