My kind of fun: I see @GoRaleighNC in Red Hat's latest video (I'm an employee) on the same day I take my first electric bus commute (instead of a really wet bike ride). https://t.co/228hcwQXDh

I've studied Chinese for over a decade with https://t.co/pJGfL4uolJ. If you've ever thought about learning a language I can't recommend them highly enough. (I also speak Spanish and ECL's approach is better than learning a language in college and even studying abroad)
It's appalling to me whenever I return home from visiting other developed nations (and undeveloped ones too) to experience the culture shock of our traffic sewers. At least the rest of the world puts accessible pedestrian bridges over death traps like this.
@OakCityCRE @shigashide @wcplonline@HorneJerome I've been a fan of buses for a long time, but Higashide's book really opened my eyes to other challenges I hadn't considered. I'm so glad we had it at the library. Everyone should read it.
@WeaverStreet @CitrixCycle @GoRaleighNC@DavidMeeker@Trophybrewing @OaksAndSpokes I know Micki so I'll definitely reach out! I'm curious to see if others have ideas of how Weaver Street could make an amazing partnership like this. In other news, I forgot some items while shopping this morning so I'll be back this afternoon on my ride home. :)
@WeaverStreet, instead of only subsidizing car ownership, would you consider partnering with @CitrixCycle or @GoRaleighNC on a benefit for your customers who don't drive? You should talk with @DavidMeeker about the amazing things @Trophybrewing is doing on this front!
@WeaverStreet @CitrixCycle @GoRaleighNC@DavidMeeker@Trophybrewing I simply ask that you consider my request. I wouldn't be able to afford to shop for high quality food if I drove a car to work. @WeaverStreet is unique in that it's one of the few grocers in Raleigh (the only?!) where the price of parking doesn't have to be included in my bill.
@WeaverStreet @CitrixCycle @GoRaleighNC@DavidMeeker@Trophybrewing Hopefully you understanding I love shopping at your Raleigh location. I ride by bike or jog there on my way to work multiple times a week and spend a few hundred dollars a month. I completely understand why it might make you more money to offer free parking.
I'd love to see us spend a significant portion improving what we already have. For example, we have greenways much too close to the beltline. You don't need expensive equipment to know how loud it is. I can barely have a conversation with my kids along much of the House Creek.
@Rehnborg@NancyMcFarlane@RaleighMoves@raleighpolice @OaksAndSpokes A bigger fish to fry is the notion that money makes you immune to the law. That is my primary concern with the vehicle at this location. Traffic law doesn't exist for the purpose of generating revenue for the city. The broken window theory applies here.
I would be impressed if our city could find an equitable solution to bringing the rule of law to our streets. The owner of this vehicle is making a very clear statement and one should be sent back to them. @NancyMcFarlane@RaleighMoves@raleighpolice @OaksAndSpokes #ralpol
@Rehnborg@NancyMcFarlane@RaleighMoves@raleighpolice @OaksAndSpokes Ridge road is another example where we selectively enforce parking citations. I ride that road many times a week and nearly always see illegal parking that puts me and my kids at greater risk. It matters to me.
@Rehnborg@NancyMcFarlane@RaleighMoves@raleighpolice @OaksAndSpokes No parking zones are there for a reason. Sometimes it visibility. Sometimes it's so a bus can effectively and safely load passengers. Sometimes it's so kids riding to school have a buffer from motorists.
@NancyMcFarlane@RaleighMoves@raleighpolice @OaksAndSpokes That could avoid political challenges with something similar to Finland's "day-fine" system. eg, safely transporting that vehicle to a secure storage facility in the suburbs would likely be extremely expensive and therefore progressive in nature. https://t.co/yYaR75YWEc
@NancyMcFarlane@RaleighMoves@raleighpolice @OaksAndSpokes Perhaps it's hard to find a towing coming willing to move such an expensive vehicle. That is actually a business opportunity and a potential solution. It's equitable to charge someone a far price to safely transport and store their illegally parked vehicle.
