Why did Brent Venables decide to call the OU defense this year?
He answered that and gave insight to what his mentality has been his entire coaching career.
“Why am I calling the defense? Because I’m good at it.”
"I'm that same kid that went to the national championship and lost and went back and got benched and had to transfer...That kid always kept the main thing the main thing and always was true to his vision of what he saw." - Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts #SuperBowl#FlyEaglesFly
Hear me out…
6-6 Oklahoma would have been Indiana’s best win, per SP+ and FPI.
All six OU losses were much better teams (per power ratings) than anyone IU beat.
OU had three wins (Alabama, Tulane, and Auburn) better than IU’s best win (Michigan) per power ratings.
They called OU a “terrible” loss for Bama but they might be better than Indiana.
At the very least, if Indiana and SMU only could beat the teams they did, they’d legitimately be 7-5 or 6-6 type teams with Oklahoma’s schedule.
