While some people are selling (or at least trying) to sell their Cybertruck reservations. I provided my deposit this morning for the tri-motor option, it should arrive before the end of the year. It'll be nice to have a truck again (surfing, lumber, camping...) & I'll never worry about a dinged door at Whole Foods again.

This just in, my Tesla Cybertruck is ready for order! I'm both excited and a little hesitant since I still love my Model X. I can get the dual-motor ~now, I'll however order the tri-motor for the 2nd half of 2024.

After speaking with a friend's mother in Kentucky, I quickly realized she had no clue Trump was under criminal indictment. She only watches Fox News, so I thought I should send her some facts. I started at @perplexity_ai and utilized their ppl-70b-online LLM to ask:

These cases include:

I wrote up some Cuba travel tips for some friends traveling to Havana for a yoga retreat & thought I'd share. Some tips only apply to Americans however most will be useful to anyone planning to visit Cuba.

Money:
- Don't bother exchanging at the airport, the yellow cabs are happy to take US dollars or Euros. They will ask for $25 but will typically take $20 for a ride to Old Havana.
- If you want to exchange at a bank, bring Euros, Canadian dollars or Mexican Pesos, you will pay a 10-15% penalty for exchanging US dollars.
- People on the street will offer to exchange currency for you ALL the time. You will get a better rate outside of the bank, ask your host for someone trusted if you want to make a personal exchange.
- Most restaurants & stores will take your dollars & give you the change in Cuban CUPs. The exchange rate varies, a nice dinner & a couple of mojitos seemed to always cost $20 with the included 10% tip.
- Bring plenty of $5s & $10s, many shops can't change a $20.
- You can't use your US bank cards in Cuba & will need to bring cash, bring more than you think you'll need to be safe.
- You can only pay in US dollars or Euros at the airport on your way home after security, spend or exchange all of your Cuban currency in advance.

Visa:

- If you are flying American Airlines via Miami you can buy the Visa at the gate for your flight. I like to get mine in advance, you can order online at https://t.co/77GMT0vyg9 for a blank Visa card. Save it, they will ask for it when you are going through immigration on your way home.
- Use "Support for the Cuban People" as the reason you are traveling for tourism, this includes staying at an Airbnb since you are staying in someone's home.

Water:

- Be super careful of drinks with ice or bottled water bought from a small local shop. I had a papaya juice on a previous trip that was blended with local ice which ruined my day. Some of the small shops will refill water bottles & then apply a little glue to the cap so it seems new (like in India). I got tricked on my last visit & had a really bad couple of days. Get your drinks & mojitos with no ice to be safe.

Medicine:

- There's no CVS or Walgreens, you won't even be able to get Tylenol, Pepto.... Bring everything that you may need, extra is better so you can give it to the locals.

Shopping:

- Don't expect to get everything you want if you shop for groceries, most shops are very small & will have a limited amount of items available.
- I did see some cute boutique shops from local designers & artists, things are improving,
- You won't be able to bring any rum or cigars back to the US, customs will seize them & cause you a hassle on your way home. I know this from experience when they seized my Havana Club rum on my last visit. ;(

Internet:

- Much improved now with many restaurants & Airbnbs with internet access. You can also get a Cubacell SIM card if you have an unlocked phone or rent a little portable internet access card. There are also public areas where you get a scratch card for an hour of access at that location.
- Create a WhatsApp account in advance if you don't have one, you will be using it to communicate with your hosts & to make plans with any friends you make.
- Download Spanish for Google Translate in advance (if needed), the conversation feature is a fun way to chat with locals & the camera translation will be helpful when reading a menu.
- Download the offline Google Maps for Havana in advance, don't expect to always have internet access or download large files while in Cuba.

Safety:

- I've never had an issue, my local friends however warned me of walking around alone at night. Be aware, careful & travel in groups when possible.

Activities & adventures:

- Check out the Airbnb page for activities, I did an evening underground bicycle tour and a couple of other activities. As a bonus, you can pay with your American bank cards since you are booking via Airbnb. https://t.co/YqBzvwZm7L

Yoga:

- You can find local classes if you are not attending a retreat, I found some rooftop classes that weren't hard to follow even with my basic Spanish skills. Bring an old yoga mat or clothing to give to the studio or locals if you have extra space in your luggage. An old @mandukayoga mat or some tired @lululemon gear will make someone very happy, most locals practice on bamboo mats.

Cuba is an amazing country, you will have a blast & return home with some great memories & photos.
