@Jassmini2 Of course. I grew up through the civil rights era, and lived in the South. I remember the signs "Green River Law Enforced", a reference to a law in the South that forbade any person of Color from being traveling though the town.
@Matt_Pinner Local calls were a nickel - and the phone had three circular slots for nickels, dimes and quarters. When you dropped a coin in one of the slots, a bell would ring. Depending on the slot the bell tone told the operator what coin you'd dropped in.
