83-year-old Brigitte Stegemann, a devout Christian grandmother with stage 4 stomach cancer, was euthanized against her will, despite repeatedly refusing euthanasia due to her faith.
Her family alleges she failed a basic cognitive test, wept that she’d “made a mistake,” and died with her hands clasped in prayer after a botched IV left her covered in blood.
Euthanasia is state-sponsored murder.
A Massachusetts family says the state took custody of their teenage daughter after they refused to affirm her as a boy, citing their Catholic faith.
The parents allege a school counselor socially transitioned their daughter without their knowledge, then reported them to the Department of Children and Families.
Now the state has guardianship, and a restraining order prevents the teen's parents and older brother from contacting her.
A judge has temporarily blocked the state from administering high-dose testosterone as the family fights the case. The next court hearing is set for Oct. 29. | @LaurenGreenFox@AmericaNewsroom

In his book, A Practical Guide to Culture: Helping the Next Generation Navigate Today's World, @JBStonestreet & @BrettKunkle have created a practical go-to manual to equip Christian kids to rise above the culture.
paperback: $12.52
"I wish John Stonestreet and Brett Kunkle had written A Practical Guide to Culture years ago. As a parent and youth pastor, I was often concerned about the impact the culture might have on my children and students, and I wasn’t always sure how to address the challenges. John and Brett have written a hopeful, engaging book that will prepare parents, educators, and youth leaders to equip young minds. This isn’t just a survey of culture; it’s an active, purposeful, and thoughtful action plan. If you want your students and children to represent Christ in a fallen world as they thrive in their Christian walk, A Practical Guide to Culture is an essential guide".

Evangelicals need to learn how to make a basic distinction between the authority of Scripture and our interpretations of Scripture. In doing so, we may be just a little more charitable toward one another when we disagree on an interpretation of a text.
This is correct. There is no obsequious devotion to Trump in particular. This thesis reinforces something I have written about at length: Biblical Christianity has structural resonances that code, today, on the political right. That's circumstantial, not permanent. To put it differently, the Bible is simply not a Leftist manifesto by Leftist accounts. Some would dispute that, but if Scripture addresses the nature of morality, moral responsibility, creation order, the scope and limits of government, and a particular account of flourishing, then by sheer circumstances of the current moment, people will vote accordingly where such views concentrate or are at least treated with greater hospitality. Now, that could change over time as labels and parties shift. When a political party more closely aligns with the source of authority that guides a people's moral outlook, it should not be surprising that vote density clusters around that party. If you want to challenge my thesis or wish for a less partisan version of Christianity, the way forward would be for the modern Left to abandon its attack on the most rudimentary principles held dear in biblical Christianity—the good of religion, human dignity, the immutability of the sexes, and the family. If it did, I would expect a more dispersed political makeup. Until the modern Left ceases its attacks on Genesis 1-2, the constant hectoring of evangelicals as slavishly devoted to one party will continue to ring hollow. I do not vote for liberals because I am a conservative first; I do not vote for liberals because I view liberalism as more parasitic to historic, biblical Christianity than the alternative.

Bill Maher Challenges Charlie Rose: “Islam Is Not Like Other Religions”
Bill Maher: I think liberals should stop booing me for pointing out that Islam is not like other religions, that it is a unique threat.
Charlie Rose: But it's not Islam you're against.
Bill Maher: Howard Dean said, “The people in ISIS... I'm about as Islamic as they are,” distancing the vast numbers of Muslims around the world from it. That's just not true.
Charlie Rose: It is true.
Bill Maher: It is not true, Charlie. There is a connecting tissue between
Charlie Rose: You mean behind every Muslim is a future member of some radical
Bill Maher: Let me finish.
There are illiberal beliefs held by vast numbers of Muslims that I don't think have
Charlie Rose: Vast numbers of Christians, too.
Bill Maher: No, that's not true.
Vast numbers of Christians don't believe that if you leave Christianity, you should be killed. They don't treat women as second-class citizens, and they don't believe drawing Jesus should get you killed.
Does ISIS kill people indiscriminately who aren't like them? Yes.
Would most Muslims do that or condone it? No.
But most Muslims in the world do condone violence just for what you think.
Charlie Rose: How do you know that?
Bill Maher: First of all, they say it. There's a Pew poll of Egypt where 82% said stoning was the appropriate punishment for adultery, and over 80% thought death was appropriate for leaving Islam.
So to claim this religion is like other religions is naive and wrong.
Saudi Arabia has also beheaded people for nonviolent crimes, including homosexuality.
Charlie Rose: They even cut the hands off a thief.
Bill Maher: Right. We're upset when ISIS beheads people, as we should be, but Saudi Arabia does it too, and they're our friends because they have oil.
This is the centre of the religion. In Mecca, non-Muslims aren't even allowed into the holy part of the city.
If people were being beheaded in Vatican City, don't you think there'd be a bigger outcry?
This is the soft bigotry of low expectations. When Muslim people do or believe things we consider extreme, it's somehow not discussed nearly as much.
Charlie Rose: I don't believe what we see with ISIS represents Islam. I don't think the Quran teaches them to do this.
Bill Maher: Well, you're wrong about that. The Quran absolutely has horrible things about how infidels should be treated.
And can we really say women are treated equally in the Muslim world?
Their testimony in court is often counted as half. They may need permission to leave the house, and women are forced to wear burqas.
And I hear liberals say, “Well, they want to.”
They've been brainwashed.

A newly released peer-reviewed study presents the results of the first nationwide homeschool achievement study in 15 years:
“A Nationwide Study on the Academic Achievement of Homeschool Students and Parents’ Reasons for Homeschooling”
Among the findings:
Homeschool students scored 29 percentile points higher in reading than the norm group
25 percentile points higher in language
25 percentile points higher in math
26 percentile points higher in social studies
27 percentile points higher in science
The study also found that student achievement was generally not associated with family income, parent education levels, or whether the teaching parent held state teacher certification.
Dr. Brian Ray of @NHERI_Research National Home Education Research Institute joined me on my podcast this week to discuss this study and the findings:

What do you actually do when your kids don’t listen?
We talk a lot on this podcast about setting boundaries, holding kids accountable, and discipline but what do those strategies actually look like in the nitty gritty of real life with real kids? What do you do when your child ignores you, hits a sibling, speaks disrespectfully, or refuses to do their chores?
In this episode, Brett and Erin get incredibly practical by walking you through real-life discipline scenarios and explaining how Christian parents can move from biblical principles to concrete action.

I was one of the 20 pro-life women in this debate. We treated her like someone made in the image of God and she felt it. When people say that debates never change hearts and/or minds…don’t believe them! AND how we treat people speaks loudly to them!
WLC explicitly and repeatedly affirms:
- One God ~ three distinct persons
- Full deity and co-equality of the Son
- Eternal existence of the three persons
- Rejection of Arianism, modalism, and subordinationism
He is denying one particular traditional formulation, the eternal generation of the Son in the divine nature, that many, especially in the EO, see as bound up with the monarchy of the Father.
Treating that disagreement as equivalent to rejecting the Trinity itself is inaccurate and often more polemical than careful.
We owe our Christian brothers more charity than simply labeling them heretics over this. Disagreement on how best to articulate the relations within the Godhead is not the same as denying the Godhead.
An over-emphasis on the monarchy of the Father can sometimes produce a defensive, boundary-policing posture that treats intramural disagreement as heresy. We should be careful not to confuse zeal for a particular formulation with faithfulness to the faith once delivered.
