The Florida Historical Society transferred management of the Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science to the City of Cocoa, effective March 1, 2021.

It is another beautiful sunshiny day in Brevard County! It's a great day to visit the Brevard Museum and explore our 22 acres of nature trails!

Florida is struck by lightning more than any other state. Check out these fulgurite pieces from the Lake Wales Ridge in Florida. These glass fossils were formed during lightning strikes. You can find these remarkable pieces of fulgurite on display in the Brevard Museum!

In my opinion, the scent of antique books is sweeter than any perfume. One of my favorite places in the Brevard Museum is this room full of antique books primarily about Florida history. This library has hundreds of rare books in it, along with that wonderful old book smell.

Wouldn't it be lovely if capes became stylish again? Check out this beautiful cape from the late 1800s. This cape belonged to Grace Taylor, an early resident of Cocoa, Florida. In 1895, she married Albert Taylor who became the second mayor of Cocoa in 1898.

One of my favorite things to do at the Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science is to play with this model train set in our Florida East Coast Railway exhibit. Kids and adults alike enjoy pressing the button to make the train run!

Brevard County's area code 321 has a special meaning. In 1999, the Space Coast was assigned the new area code after Titusville resident Ozzie Osband rallied for the number to celebrate the count down that takes place before rocket launches. "3...2...1... Blast off!"
