The Finance Act removed excise duty on bottled water on 1st July.

Today marks exactly one month since that tax was scrapped.

When you compare, has your favourite bottled water brand reduced its prices on the shelves?

If yes, by how much?

If not, where did the tax savings go?

Then using the same individuals, the government would have designed on advise from the same people a new market. Building 3 floor on top and 2 floors basement is a waste of resources. No business will function there and the prices will be so high.

The government meddles so much in private business. Demolishing Gikomba using the pretext that you are building a new market is just destroying the business structures that kill the business itself. Gikomba has "landlords".

These landlords built the ecosystem that the business ran using. Even for relocation, the landlords had the numbers and they would easily have joined hands and built the 'holder" market

@254Ustawi Did they ammend the issue about invoices that should be registered on Tims? I have mixed feelings about this. It's good since tax compliant businesses can do clean business but the few "turnover taxpayers". will lose business
