"Freedom of speech protects lawful expression; but it does not protect utterances that satisfy the elements of a criminal offense."

PAANO KA HINDI KAKAININ NG SISTEMA?
In his commencement speech to the graduates of UP Law 2026, Mayor Vico Sotto shared that he is always asked by people how he keeps his integrity. They ask for his advice on the age old question of:
“Paano kami hindi kakainin ng sistema?”
As a result, he shared ten things he does or thinks about regularly to avoid being eaten by the system.
Here are the TEN THINGS that Mayor Vico Sotto does or follows to keep his integrity:
1. Preparation is more important than courage.
2. Make a list of non-negotiables and review them regularly.
3. When in doubt, choose faith conscience and integrity over money power and ambition.
4. Study cognitive dissonance and continuously identify how and where it affects you. Your decision-making and opinion-forming.
5. Get out of your echo chamber from time to time.
6. Check your ego every single day.
7. Have people in your life who share the same or similar principles, values, and beliefs.
8. Allow said people in #7 to keep you grounded.
9. Give these people the license to hold you accountable.
10. Have a healthy level of respect but also be willing to go against the status quo.
Then the crowd cheered in applause. 👏

I support doing all ten but I would like to personally highlight Numbers 3, 6, and 7! 💯

If students recall their history classes on the Monopolyo ng Tabako involving Gov-Gen José Basco y Vargas, that same Gen. Basco (Basco was named after him) was the one who led the conquest of Batanes.
Don't fall for Beijing's historical revisionism and fantasies on Batanes.
When Andrew Garfield, Tom Hiddleston, Emma Corrin, Anna Wintour and many others are on your side of the box.🙌 That's some Spiderman, Loki, Princess Diana and Miranda Priestley gang sh!t 😂 #AlexEala#Wimbledon
A nation that cannot raise, protect, and supports its children has no future. A nation fails when some of the highest officials of the land see children as young as 10 as criminals. And the audacity of Senator Padilla is just staggering. This proposal is coming from the same senator who just weeks ago sheltered and enabled a fugitive and suspected international criminal, Senator Bato Dela Rosa, all in the name of partisanship. He wants to treat our children as criminals while he gets to protect his powerful, fully adult friends from the law.

I do hope @BangkoSentral penalizes @TalktoBPI for this unnecessary and unannounced inconvenience to all its clients.
Sunday came and went and still no concrete resolution and announcement for when service will resume.
Just useless bot replies. Such an utter waste of time.
I don’t always agree with him, but I think @jesusfalcis will be missed by many of us in the legal profession as he serves his suspension.
I know him as a fierce advocate, and I hope he will continue with his political advocacies. I look forward to the day that he is allowed to practice again because he also does a lot of good as a public interest lawyer.

Loss of life (young life at that) brought about by avoidable circumstances that the victims were exposed to by authority figures that were supposed to care and nurture them - is a tragedy that requires accountability. No it won’t bring back Divine and Rene, but we cannot allow people in power to be protected when their authority and status were wielded to put young men in precarious situations that took their lives. There’s anecdotes on record of precedent, there’s a grieving mother asking for the most basic details amid official statements saying they are ‘working closely’ with the families.
Investigate this to the fullest. Basketball is by no means more important than protecting our young people, most especially those who come from backgrounds that force them and their families to look at a roster spot, game minutes, a coaching staff’s favor and approval - as tickets to a better life.
Pay close attention to who says what, if anything at all. If you’re not enraged by the avoidable accident that took the lives of two young men, if your instinct is to protect an institution’s reputation over condemning those responosible for two boys dying, if you would rather be silent because you’re worried about relationships or your place in the industry, then you’re part of the problem.
This was avoidable. This was negligent. It’s only basketball, ffs. There are people responsible. Hold them accountable.
