That Cape Verde performance right there is what the World Cup is, and always should be. Incredible backs to the wall job. Spain won't be worried given the evidence of recent history, but this ain't their story, one of the football moments that from Cape Verde.
Will always appreciate what Mowbray did for #Rovers first time round, but with what's happened since then, this feels like a decision where the club have gambled on the easy option at the wrong time, he's got a job on with this too. Hope to be proved wrong but nervous here.
Baradji was frustrating to watch at times last season on the ball, rated him more off it. Not the most exciting deal right now but there's potential there, circumstances better this time round so could bring more from him now, wouldn't be the first such turnaround #Rovers.
Never felt Hedges provided enough end product for #Rovers as an attacker previously, but he had settled in that LWB role prior to his latest injury, and he looked the best option in that area this season, so surprised, and a bit disappointed, to see him go now.
While it has felt inevitable for some time, still gutting to see Tronstad confirm his #Rovers exit. Been an absolute key player in the last three seasons, both with his ability and leadership, has consistently set the standard. Will be a big miss and very tough to replace.
@garysmith2301@brfcsdotcom Agree completely, though I do think Tronstad is one of them that without him, the position the club would be in would be a lot worse than what it is.
@LeftBehindPoet See your point. I wonder if it's trying to avoid talk among the fanbase around players entering the last year of their contracts if it isn't known whether they are or not. Could be any reason though I suppose.
Nice to see #Rovers at least be somewhat proactive with the Gudjohnsen contract. Will be an asset if he stays fit and rediscovers pre-injury form. But with plenty of time on his previous deal there are bigger priorities, and a lack of clarity on length of this one seems strange.
@LeftBehindPoet Given they've said it's "new long term" I'm hoping they've extended it as wouldn't make much sense to do otherwise, but then again this is Rovers so you never know these days...
O'Neill leaving a huge blow to #Rovers. Key reason for staying up, and having someone like him there would have helped attract the sort of players needed this summer to build on that. As it is, hard not to worry what might be served up by those in charge based on recent evidence.
Sobering to think that if you take points deductions out of the equation, #Rovers would have finished 22nd. Very lucky that what should have been such a celebratory season hasn't been a complete disaster, a massive amount of work to do in the summer, starting with keeping MON.
Was underwhelmed when Forshaw got his contract extension last summer, completely the opposite now. Been outstanding the last few months, vital in getting over the line, could be important business given how things have been with others in midfielder. What a turnaround #Rovers.
Really sad news about Tony Parkes today. Mostly before my time but even so, it isn't hard to know he was as important to Rovers as anyone in the club's history. As many have said, would love to see his name on the Riverside Stand, would be no more fitting or deserving tribute.
Huge relief for #Rovers to secure safety, and to be able to enjoy the end of the season, but no denying it's well short of last season. O'Neill's appointment the turning point this time round, keeping and backing him crucial to any hope the club have of progressing from this.
Would've taken that result pre-match but for things to play out in that feels rather deflating, and scenes like those in the away end feel a long way away for #Rovers right now. Much improved performance offers hope though, especially with a gew more days recovery to come.
#Rovers better second half but
this was another game where a clear gulf in class made that tough to watch. Add in other results, squad depth and the coming schedule, and the situation feels very precarious. Shouldn't want a 150th anniversary season to be over as much as this.
Felt like a game #Rovers had to target for three points but one probably the most they deserved, Toth (and Cashin earlier on) to the rescue yet again. This looks a depleted, tired squad facing some tough games to come in quick succession, this is far from over.
Not a bad point for #Rovers with other results and after that 1st half, but a lack of attacking quality costs a chance of a win in the 2nd. O'Neill showed his tactical nous with the formation switch to change the flow of the game. Thought McLoughlin led the defence really well.
Huge win that for #Rovers, that goal is the sort of quality you expect from Cantwell, at the other end Toth just as important, another game where some of his interventions have kept then in it. Forshaw getting through the miles like he is at his age impressive again too.
