Richard Hays is LGBTQ+ affirming!

“God has already gone on ahead of our debates and expanded his grace to people of different sexualities.”

This is a big deal. Dr. Richard Hays is one the world’s leading New Testament scholars. He has written a new book alongside his son (Dr. Christopher Hays, a scholar and professor at Fuller Seminary) encouraging Christians to affirm our LGBTQ+ siblings just as God has.

This is a change from the chapter in his seminal work, The Moral Vision of the New Testament, in which he argued for a non-affirming sexual ethic.

At 75 years old, Hays could have easily chosen never to address his changing belief publicly or correct his earlier work. I’m so grateful he chose this brave path instead.
