At @IUBiology Micro retreat, we are honored to host Beronda Montgomery as our keynote speaker; a former IU postdoc and now amazingly accomplished scientist, admin, role model.
Please help me raise funds to get my fire-damaged apartment back to livable condition. I am in extreme need of help to cover the hefty expenses of the repair. Please also consider sharing my story to help me reach my goal. Click to Donate https://t.co/H2rDp5nM3A
First tweet, First talk, First in-person conference! Had a great time talking about how spatial structure stabilizes our model cross-feeding community!Thank you #ISME18 and @mckinlab
Thanks @LizScurious and @asanchez_lab for @JakeMcKinlay's opportunity to present on recipient-driven cross-feeding and evolutionary influences of public adenine at #ISME18. Many lab members and collaborators contributed data to this talk.
Grad student @sheff_olivia gives a great talk on cross-feeding conditions that support gene loss, today at #ISME18 in Lausanne. 4/4 grad students presented talks or posters this Summer!
What an amazing conference! @GordonConf Microbial Basis of C1 Metabolism was an amazing experience to present, discuss and connect with an awesome community!
I don’t really tweet much but I’m excited early this am to be going to the GRS/GRC Microbial One-Carbon Metabolism conference! Very excited to discus my work :)
Grad student Ella Chuang talks about her work on adenine cross-feeding. Thanks to @Biolluminator for the photo. We are all excited for her back in Bloomington. Ella is one of MANY @IUBiology students presenting their excellent work at #Phages2022.
'A wormhole in Wisconsin.' Current grad student Nick Haas explains his research to former grad student Dr. @RyanKFritts at #Phages2022. Thanks Ella Chuang for the photo.
I love the beautiful microscopy work from @jiwasmika in this paper: https://t.co/Qgyos2sQlB! It is cool to see how calprotectin protein physically interacts with biofilms. And thanks to @KendraRumbaugh for enabling us to visualize this interaction in murine chronic wounds!
Beautiful bioluminescent Vibrios as part of the "Illuminating Science-Interspecies Quorum Sensing Signaling" experiment the @Biolluminator lab is doing with teachers across Indiana who are participating in the IU Biology Summer Institute! @IUBioOutreach 🦠
The Biology Summer Institute is almost over! It's been fun creating modules to teach about epidemiology, motility/signaling, and ice nucleation. Great job by our high school teachers Catherine and Lynn and grad student leaders @brherrin and @sheff_olivia! Thanks @IUBioOutreach!
Some bacteria only have a partial denitrification pathway, a form of anaerobic respiration. However, the last step that converts N2O greenhouse gas into N2 is activated by denitrification intermediates that those bacteria cannot respire.
