I follow with concern the war in #Ukraine, which is experiencing a sharp intensification in these days. I wish to express my closeness to all those suffering due to recent attacks carried out even against civilians. War does not solve problems but worsens them. It does not create security but multiplies suffering and hatred. Where missiles and drones fall, hopes also fall; homes and places of prayer are destroyed, and innocent lives are broken. I entrust all peoples wounded by war to the protection of the Virgin Mary, Queen of #Peace.
Let us learn to be rich in a different way: more attentive to relationships, more intent on valuing the common good, more attached to the local area, more grateful in welcoming and integrating those who come to live with us.
Mr. President, completely agree about having a lot of fun over these next seven months.
But nitpicking? Some of your advisors are telling you to support things like:
- Using billions of taxpayer dollars to compensate convicted felons and thugs who attacked police. (Ed Martin)
- Pushing 50-year mortgages and Elizabeth Warren's housing bill over sound conservative housing policy. (Bill Pulte)
- Using taxpayer money to transform publicly traded companies into state-owned enterprises. (Howard Lutnick)
- Firing our very best generals and not holding Putin accountable for his systematic kidnapping, rape, torture, and murder of Ukrainian civilians. (Pete Hegseth)
If opposing these things makes me a RINO, then I gladly accept that nickname.
We need Republicans to do well in November, but the stupid stuff is killing our chances!
No nation, no society, and no international order can call itself just and humane if it measures its success solely by power or prosperity while neglecting those who live at the margins. Indeed, Christ’s love for the least and the forgotten compels us to reject every form of selfishness that leaves the poor and the vulnerable invisible.

From today until next Sunday, Laudato Si’ Week is taking place, dedicated to the care of creation and inspired by Pope Francis’ Encyclical. In this jubilee year of Saint Francis of Assisi, we recall his message of peace with God, with our brothers and sisters, and with all creatures. Sadly, in recent years, due to wars, progress in this direction has been greatly impeded. Therefore, I encourage the members of the Laudato Si’ Movement and all who promote an integral ecology to renew their commitment. Indeed, caring for peace is caring for life!
Over the last year, the growth in military expenditure around the world and Europe has been enormous. Rearmament increases tensions and insecurity, drains investments from education and healthcare, undermines trust in diplomacy, and enriches elites who care nothing for the common good. This should not be called “defense.”
Study, research, and investment should move in the opposite direction and become a radical “yes” to life! Yes to innocent life, yes to young life, yes to the lives of people who cry out for peace and justice!
What kind of world are we leaving behind? Unfortunately, it is a world distorted by war and war-like language. This pollution of reason comes from the geopolitical sphere and invades every social relationship. Any simplification that creates enemies must be corrected, especially in universities, through complexity of thought and wise exercise of memory.
The Lord commands us to love one another as He has loved us (cf. Jn 13:34): it is the love of Jesus that gives birth to love in us. Christ Himself is the criterion of true love: love that is faithful forever, pure and unconditional, love that gives without wanting to possess. #GospelOfTheDay
Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Judicial District 2 (Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrell, Washington, and Martin counties) recently recognized and celebrated their volunteer child advocates who make such a tremendous difference in the lives of children in their district. Programs across the state (especially in rural counties) are in desperate need of volunteers to give a voice to neglected children who have no one advocating for them in court. The #GospelOfTheDay (Jn 10:1-10) invites us to trust in the Lord. He does not come to take anything from us. Rather, He is the Good Shepherd, who multiplies life and offers it to us in abundance.
Today marks the 40th anniversary of the tragic Chernobyl incident, which left a lasting mark on the conscience of humanity. It serves as a warning about the inherent risks in the use of increasingly powerful technologies. We entrust those who died and all who still suffer from the aftermath of the disaster to God’s mercy. I hope that discernment and responsibility will always prevail at every level of decision-making, so that every use of atomic energy may be placed at the service of life and #Peace.
May the Lord help you to become a society in which everyone, each according to their respective responsibilities, works ever more fully to serve the common good rather than private interests, bridging the gap between the privileged and the disadvantaged. May there be greater room for freedom, and may the dignity of the human person always be safeguarded.

Without a change of direction in the assumption of political responsibility, and without respect for institutions and international agreements, humanity's destiny risks being tragically compromised. God does not want this. His holy Name must not be profaned by the desire for domination, arrogance, or discrimination. Above all, it must never be invoked to justify death-dealing choices and actions.
In a world wounded by arrogance, people hunger and thirst for justice. We must encourage those who believe in peace and dare to engage in “countercurrent” politics, which focus on the common good. What is urgently needed is the courage of new visions and an educational pact that gives young people space and trust. #ApostolicJourney #EquatorialGuinea https://t.co/81zzJos7Ij
The care of the weakest is a very important sign of the quality of the social life of a nation. Let us remember that the elderly are in need of assistance, but first and foremost need to be listened to, because they preserve the wisdom of a people. We owe them gratitude, because they have faced great difficulties for the good of the community. #ApostolicJourney #Angola
