Term limits for members of both chambers of Congress is a great idea...

For me, I say two terms in the Senate and six terms in the House, totalling 12 years for both.

And I'd make this caveat also:

12 years total. So if you spend three terms in the House, and then one term in the Senate, you've hit your 12 years. You're done.

If you spend four terms in the House, you can't run for Senate as the full term would push you over the 12 year threshold.

Being a Federal representative was never designed to be a long-term career and we need to get back to that.

12 years is enough.

Nobody *NEEDS* to serve longer than that.

This should have been done long ago. So sick of Congress acting like they rule over us! They work for us but have managed to conveniently forget this!!

President Trump is asking everyone to share this, in three days, most people in the United States will have seen the message. This is an idea that should be passed around, regardless of political party.

The TRUMP Rules:

1. Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. And no more perks go with them.

2. Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress must purchase their own retirement plan, just as ALL Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise at the same rate as the COLA for monthly Social Security recipients minus 1% if having a budget balance deficit.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system (Medicare) as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people (i.e. NO MORE INSIDER TRADING!!!).

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congress made all these contracts by and for themselves.
Serving in Congress is an honor and privilege, NOT a career.

The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work … not get all kinds of freebies. Term limits of 2 terms and treat them like a regular citizen.

The North Carolina State Auditor, Dave Boliek, has announced an audit to NC Lottery funds, which is supposed to go to education.

Here's what the audit says:

-There is a DECLINE in percentage transferred to education primarily driven by changes in lottery product mix.

-Prize expense increased from 66% of gross sales to 76% of sales due to rapid growth in ONLINE GAMING.

-Lottery sales jumped from $4.3 billion to $6.6 billion in two years. That’s a 51% increase.

What went to schools?

About $1.08 billion — almost the same as years prior, actually down a little from the year prior.

SCHOOLS MONEY WENT DOWN FROM 23% to 16%. State law still lists a 38% target for education — “to the extent practicable." <--THE LANGUAGE IS TERRIBLE IN THE LAW.

Total dollars to education were above BILLION DOLLARS.
BUT-- sales boom was not shared with students! It went to bigger prizes and a bigger lottery operation, NOT SCHOOLS.

If the point of an Education Lottery is students, a 51% sales spike with a flat check to schools is a huge problem.

NORTH CAROLINA NEEDS TO CHANGE THE LOTTERY LAWS.

At 3 AM on Friday, March 27th, in a near-empty chamber, you passed a bill by voice vote that excludes all funding for ICE and CBP.

Let me repeat that: voice vote. No roll call. No record of who was there. No accountability. Just you, Barrasso, and a handful of senators shuffling paper in the dead of night while America slept.

You could have demanded a recorded vote. You chose not to.

You could have held the line for five more days until the House returned. You chose not to.

You could have used the same procedural tools Democrats have used against you for 40 days. You chose not to.

Instead, you gave Chuck Schumer exactly what he asked for, DHS funding minus immigration enforcement, and called it a win. Then you walked to the cameras and blamed the Democrats.

Let's be precise about what you did:

1. You caved to a demand Democrats made on Day 1 of this shutdown. Forty-one days of supposed hardball negotiation, and you settled for their opening offer.
2. You handed them a template. The next time Democrats want to defund any agency — ICE, CBP, or anything else — they now know: just shut down DHS and wait. John Thune will fold at 3 AM.
3. You punted to reconciliation. "Good possibility," you said. Not "we will." Not "guaranteed." Just maybe. Meanwhile, ICE operates on fumes from last year's bill with no certainty of future funding.

The precedent you set:

You have argued for months that the filibuster is sacrosanct. That the 60-vote threshold protects minority rights. That we cannot bend Senate rules for policy wins.

But at 3 AM on Friday, you bent every norm that actually mattered:

• Voice vote to avoid accountability
• Empty chamber to avoid debate
• Midnight deal to avoid scrutiny
• Immediate recess to avoid questions

You'll bend the rules to avoid a fight. You just won't bend them to win one.

What you've actually accomplished:

Democrats demanded ICE restrictions. They got ICE defunded.

Not reformed. Not restrained. Defunded.

And you're out here tweeting about how Democrats are the "Defund the Police" party while you just voted to defund border enforcement at 3 in the morning.
The question you should answer:

Why did this deal have to happen at 3 AM?

Why couldn't it happen at 3 PM, with cameras rolling and every senator on record?

You know why. Because you didn't want your voters to see what surrender looks like.

Here's my message: We saw it anyway.

Stop hiding behind "Democrat obstruction." You're the Majority Leader. You set the schedule. You control the floor. You chose this outcome.

A letter to our Senators and Representatives.

Gentlemen,
I am a 64-year-old American that has worked and paid taxes since I was fifteen years old. I have never taken any type of handout from anyone, including the US government. After 49 years of working, I have decided to retire, at least partially. According to you, it’s “early  retirement”.  I don’t consider 49 years of working, “early”. Had I been a government employee I could have retired 29 years ago, or had I been a senator, I could have retired, what… 39 years ago? with full retirement pay and free healthcare for life.
Because I retired before reaching my “full retirement age”; which is decided by you, I have a reduced Social Security payment, which you refer to as a “benefit”. I see it as a return of my money that I have paid in for 49 years. This reduced payment is not enough to live on. The payment at full retirement age is not enough to live on. I have to work some, to supplement my income, but low and behold I can only earn a certain amount (which is still not enough to live on) and then you start docking my Social Security.
Apparently, I earned too much at some point because I just received a letter from the SSA stating that my next three SSA payments will be cut in half, and the real kicker is I still “owe” $38.00. I can’t work more to make up the difference because I will only be further penalized.
It is extremely infuriating, as an American citizen, to be treated this way. Look at the amount of fraud, look at the number of people, many of whom have never paid a dime into the system, receiving free benefits from the government. Look at the billions paid to and on behalf of illegal immigrants. All I want is the money I paid in and a chance to retire in peace.

TRANSLATION: The UniParty Republican leadership is starving Texas US Senate candidate Ken Paxton of cash because he is a conservative.

Once you understand that they'd rather have Democrat Talafreako win than have a conservative in the US Senate, it all makes sense.

The problem is that Texas is the most critical Senate race in the country.

Paxton began the race AHEAD in the critical Texas race, but after Democrats spending $31 million while the National Republican Senate Committee starved him for cash, Paxton is down by over 3 points.

The Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) has approximately $239 million in cash on hand according to its mid-2026 Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, and it has spent $0 directly to support Ken Paxton.

Sen. Tim Scott's National Republican Senatorial Committee says they won't fund him, either.

The excuse? After starving Paxton of cash, he's down in the polls. Now they're saying he's a bad candidate because Paxton is down 3 points, and using it as a justification to starve him of more cash.

Meanwhile, Michael Whatley, who has zero chance of winning in North Carolina against popular Democrat Governor Roy Cooper, is down 8 POINTS after the SLF Republicans blew $17 million and plans to blow $50 million more. Scott's NSRC is also blowing money on ads for Whatley. Again, tens of millions in, Whatley is sinking in the polls.

Why spend on Whatley? He's a liberal Republican who isn't even that popular among REPUBLICANS in NC.

GOP leadership is now pointing at Trump to bridge the gap with his MAGA, Inc. PAC, and Trump did just hold a fundraiser for Paxton, but won't committ to spending money so far. Trump has also been largely at war with conservatives lately, spending money to defeat Republican Ralph Norman in a REPUBLICAN primary in South Carolina.

That $1.6 million blown in the SC GOP primary to punish Ralph Norman really could have helped Paxton.

Republicans have to get smarter, or we will hand the Senate and the House to Democrats by default.
