A 2020 study by Philly Sports Network found that Carson Wentz held an 11–5 record (69%) against top-10 pass defenses, second only to Tom Brady at the time.

What does that mean?
It means Wentz has the instinct and grit to win meaningful football games against elite teams. Fast forward to yesterday, he took down the #1 defense in the NFL and led a game-winning drive when it mattered most.

The Vikings now sit at 3–2, the roster is getting healthier, and Wentz is only getting sharper. He’s heating up.

Personally, I think the Vikings’ chances are stronger with Wentz than they ever were with Darnold. He’s playing smarter, dissecting defenses differently than in his past, and it shows.

Meanwhile, J.J. McCarthy’s last outing?
158 yards, 2 interceptions, and in both of his starts he had under 50 passing yards in the first half.

So really, what are we trying to figure out here?

In his short stint, J.J. showed flashes, but so did Josh Dobbs and Jaren Hall before the league adjusted. I understand the urge to “see what we have,” but not when another QB has you winning games and keeping playoff hopes alive.

If Wentz tanks and the season’s done, fine, hand the reins to the rookie. But you don’t throw away a locker room full of guys fighting through injuries and adversity just to test out a shiny new toy.

Wentz has proven he can move the offense for 4 quarters.
McCarthy hasn’t yet.
It’s that simple.
