The Wall Street Journal reports that concerns over dwindling U.S. air defense interceptor stockpiles have become a key factor in the administration's decision to pause a major escalation against Iran.
According to the Journal, Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine warned the White House that declining inventories of Patriot and other interceptors would increase the risk to U.S. forces if large scale operations resumed. The report also says the White House sought to prevent publication of updated government figures on Patriot and Terminal High Altitude Air Defense (THAAD) interceptor expenditures, arguing their release could harm national security.
President Donald J. Trump disputed reports of a munitions shortfall, telling the Journal the U.S. has "far more munitions than we need." Outside analysts, however, have warned that the high rate of interceptor use in the conflict could strain U.S. air defense capacity and affect readiness for other potential contingencies.

You can't get a more perfect description of how the New Axis of Evil actively cooperates to deplete US/West's resources than Zelensky's explanation here.
Zelenskyy: Three big threats we're tracking.
First, North Korea will send Russia 30,000 soldiers.
Second, Iran is sending Russia ballistic missiles.
Third, and biggest: China is helping Russia with satellites and targeting tech, to strike us more precisely. 1/

Axios reports that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) commander Adm. Brad Cooper recommended ending the recent bombing campaign around the Strait of Hormuz after concluding it had largely achieved its objectives and reached the limit of its effectiveness.
According to Axios, Cooper told senior defense officials that two weeks of strikes had significantly degraded Iran's ability to attack shipping and that most planned targets had already been hit. He reportedly said the remaining roughly 20% of designated Operation Epic Fury targets would require a return to major combat operations, and that absent such a decision, there was little military value in continuing the limited bombing campaign.
Axios says Cooper's assessment, along with warnings from Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine about dwindling air defense interceptor stocks, helped influence President Trump's decision to pause U.S. strikes on Friday. The report adds that U.S.-Iran talks are continuing while both sides appear to be observing an informal "quiet for quiet" pause.
SKY NEWS: Are you worried about Iran potentially attacking Ukraine? They've threatened because of what happened with their vessel. Or is that not a concern?
ZELENSKYY: What do you think if Iran, from the first year of the war, gave new technology to Russia? It was Shahed drones.
They gave thousands of these drones in the first year of the war, and then they gave licenses.
What did they do? Did they attack us? I think yeah. So, they already did it.
We have to be cautious. We have to do everything not to open a new front in any way, but we have to be honest.
Iranians and North Korea have already attacked us. I hope they will not increase these attacks.
But we have to be ready for everything. Just to be ready, and to know that we can't trust these people.
Because at the very beginning, without any messages or any kind of escalation from our side, Iranians gave weapons to Russia.
North Koreans also gave Russia weapons, drones, missiles, 155-caliber artillery rounds, and 10,000 North Koreans.
