[joe rogan] so you're saying you've never been fed?
[domestic cat that was fed thirty minutes ago] that's right joe. i've never been fed in my entire whole life
[joe rogan] wow
@PatGarofalo Learned about this a month ago and found out I had $175 in there from a health insurance reimbursement from over 10 years ago that I didn’t even know about. Took like two minutes to file a claim and I got a check 3 days later. Amazing.
@BrettChigoy@MattZeitlin Appreciate the apology. I assumed most retail theft fencing was occurring on FB marketplace and sketchy corner stores. Surprised to hear that Amazon may be complicit. Don’t doubt it occurs, but I question how prevalent it is. It’s not obvious to me, a frequent Amazon shopper.
@BrettChigoy@MattZeitlin I’m not denying that theft and fencing of stolen goods is occurring at high rates - that is obvious. What is not obvious is that the products I am purchasing on Amazon were shoplifted. Believe it or not, it was a genuine question. Like, maybe there are telltale signs I am missing
It's worth emphasizing here: Vance is very directly arguing that it would be better if our money was worth less and we could consume fewer things. He explicitly argues to make America poorer.
Do with that information what you will.
@mattyglesias I prefer the pet deposit approach. Acting as if it’s a given that a pet will cause excess damage to a home is ridiculous. If you’re going make me pay more rent for a pet, shouldn’t you also charge more for someone else living with a spouse or roommates?
Pretty clear solution to e-bikes is that everything pedal-assist up to 20mph is treated as a regular bike.
Everything above 20 mph is a light motorcycle and requires a license, registration, and insurance. They should be banned from bike lanes, greenways, and parks.
The stunning thing about this pile-on re: Fauci by a handful of GOP senators is the total lack of interest by these supposedly outraged senators at the person who had the power at the time. Fauci gave recommendations. Trump’s the one who had all the power. Their lack of interest in Trump’s role is an obvious tell. This is manufactured nonsense.
When I moved to Florida I realized there are millions of people who have been stewing in rage for years over the lockdowns.
It really made me understand that the core animating force in US society is selfishness. The whole freedom thing is a thin veil for a sense of entitlement.
The reason you’re unhappy is that you haven’t found the right thing to buy. There’s something out there you can purchase that will make this all go away
Police DO NOT prevent crime; they respond to it. Crime is prevented by higher wages, guaranteed health care, food security, high-quality child care, housing, good schools, and addiction treatment.
@hipearlrose I don’t disagree that MPLS transit could be WAY better, but this example severely exaggerates the problem. This park is way out in the suburbs, far from major roads, resulting in 1.5 hours of this journey being on foot. There are so many great parks in between these locations.
As someone who always used to be excited for new tech, I am not interested anymore. Everything has gotten so greedy, addictive, expensive and exclusive. They don't solve problems, they create them, and then try to sell you the solution. We're in literal technology hell.
