@the_transit_guy That seems shocking to me as well. Maybe they've been detailing too many drive through restaurants to care anymore. Seems counterintuitive to our schooling to be anti built environment.
While the legislature has improved on the governor's budget, it is not enough to maintain LBO funding. Without the $286M needed to maintain last years funding, transit in Michigan will continue to fall. Go to https://t.co/I9Js2THU6h to tell your legislator to fund transit today!
While we are at it Main Street has the same ROW width. 4 very wide lanes aren't that great either for place-making. If we can't get bike lanes here then maybe parklets for more seating! Turn lanes at major intersections can help flow but breakup with landscape islands.
This secondary main street in @RoyalOak needs a massive rethinking. S Washington is could be a huge asset to the city with a set of protected cycling lanes without much effort. It would aid businesses, add capacity, and calm traffic that is already reduced to 25mph.
Furthermore, the only loss here is to some angled parking spaces which I don't think many users like anyways. The plan would require only changing the camera meter maids and restriping. Future changes could be made to the curbs as well.
Today, Amtrak and partners were awarded $2.1B in federal grants to improve existing routes & advance plans to expand Amtrak service across the country.

Really enjoyed this account from @sociallychrissy on riding DDOT and how we need to look at improving transit for ALL riders. Transit is for all people because it can empower and give freedom to all. We need to increase and fund transit now! https://t.co/LAkbFhcAQB
Reminder that all of those dreamy towns you see in holiday themed books and movies would be illegal to build today due to modern parking mandates! #BlackFridayParking
