So proud of my dad for 23 great years. I’ve always thought he had the coolest job in the world. When I was a kid, it was for winning ball games. And now, it is because I have gotten to see the positive impact he had on so many kids’ lives, including mine. Congrats!

John Lewis asked The NYT to publish this on the day of his funeral. It is necessary reading. He writes, “When you see something that is not right, you must say something ... Democracy is not a state. It is an act, and each generation must do its part.” https://t.co/gNWQDpeAZt
Atlanta, home to the largest Black communities in Georgia, closed 80 polling places since March.
Now, 16,000 active registered voters from five precincts have to vote at ONE polling place — and the voting machines are down.
Does this sound like a free and fair election to you?
Donald Trump really just had the police fire tear gas and rubber bullets at peaceful protestors in Washington D.C. to clear the streets for a photo op at a church he doesn't attend with a book he's never read that teaches lessons he doesn't preach. Unbelievable.
As editor-in-chief of @TheLantern, I am at a loss for words right now. I have spent the last days extremely proud of the efforts of my team, and right now I am helping to treat more pepper spray burns and shaking hands in my campus apartment.
The two most flagantly lawless presidents of the last 60 years have both been the most insistent on "law and order," which shows how little it has to do with law and how much it's about maintaining a specific "order."

I have a new poem in the Harvard Kennedy School Journal of African American Public Policy. A different sort of venue for a poem, but appreciate them providing the invitation.
This is for my son & thinking about how quickly the world will see him as something other than a child.
I interviewed #AhmaudArbrey’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones. She told me without the video her son’s death would have been a “cover-up” bc authorities told her he was killed while committing a burglary. Today, she visited his gravesite feeling relieved that there have been arrests.

@CharlesMBlow writes, "Ahmaud Arbery had committed no offense. His only offense, the thing that drew suspicion, was that he was black and male and running through these white men's neighborhood."
