@ThirstyyTiger@wompstompfilms So because a stranger to you didn’t post about this on social media until now, you can read her mind and have determined she was fine with it?
REALLY???
So if someone has an issue with something in life they MUST post on social media to inform YOU.
REALLY???
TAKE OFF!!
@ThirstyyTiger@wompstompfilms How would you know she was fine with it?
If she wasn’t paid for every hour worked and had unreasonable turnarounds then she was mistreated.
@wompstompfilms@ThirstyyTiger It’s pointless because they will never pay it and there is no reasonable mechanism to collect it.
It may be the right thing to do but it will never be the norm.
It’s not a hill to die on.
@ThirstyyTiger@wompstompfilms You are asking a stupid question.
They should have:
paid her for every hour that she worked
ensured she had reasonable turnarounds
provided water & basic crafty at her work locations
They didn’t.
That’s all I care about.
The equity issue is pointless.
@ThirstyyTiger@wompstompfilms That’s an impossible question to answer.
But if you work in indie film, it’s feast or famine and despite your best efforts, you may not work for a while in between gigs.
I did side gigs: editing, transcription, PA work on studio films - in between indie film work.
@ThirstyyTiger@wompstompfilms No. Of course not. How do you interpret that from my comment?
The point is clueless people think she made a lot of money, but that’s not a lot of money if you understand how far you have to stretch it while you hustle for the next gig.
@TomAandTom1 I worked as a 1st & 2nd AD for 10 years.
When scheduling, everyone obsesses about page count. Page count is a factor.
But you should schedule your days by camera & lighting setups.
3 pages could be shot in a oner or in many setups, so the # of hours varies dramatically.
@NOQ921@horrormuseum No. It’s being paid for every hour you work and having basic necessities like water at your work location and having a reasonable turnaround.
Everyone is obsessing over the equity part and ignoring the rest.
@JCervantes7410 Then they asked me to work over 12 hours for free during the final week because we were behind schedule.
I said I will only work 12 hours.
After 12 hours, I went home.
Everyone was shocked!
Crew worked for free for those extra hours.
Someone else had to email call sheets.

@JCervantes7410 One of my favorite experiences was being paid $150/12 to 2nd AD because “we can’t afford more.”
Then being asked to collect and review start paperwork and seeing that asst hair/MU and asst wardrobe were getting $165/12.
I confronted the producers. They cried poor.

@aakashgupta This IP may have some value.
But it’s astonishing that execs thought risking $300M on a big movie version of THIS IP made economic sense.
Based on the trailers, it appears they made this movie for an audience that doesn’t exist.
@TheCinesthetic I arranged for Claudia Wells to do a Q&A for BTTF trilogy at New Beverly Cinema years ago.
She was lovely!
2 great nights celebrating a classic trilogy.
@TomAandTom1 I’ve made 11 shorts. 1 feature: @PleaFilm
All Ultra Low Budget
I worked as a 1st AD or 2nd AD on indies for 10 years.
I know how to work efficiently and treat people well.
Happy to offer advice from my experience if you want to reach out.
@ChadMeise She could connect with support groups for people with chronic illness and tailor an approach for them.
She could hire an editor & cut an undeniably good 1-minute trailer out of her short film.
Bottom line: she needs to reach FAR beyond her X universe for financial support.
