@Mr_mitchellh@MarcSelwan I would argue “yes”. But my definition is a little different: a database is a collection of data (same as Marc) that includes an API to add, delete, and modify elements, and also identify/return data based on their contents (not just their metadata).
@MarcSelwan EXT4, etc, keep metadata like ownership and creation and modification time. Is that not sufficient to also include all file systems as a database?
@Mr_mitchellh@MarcSelwan So, I’m your definition a database gets to claim all capabilities of applications built to run on/around the database? ask, sed, grep, etc are all apps on the file system, right?
