@digitalchampi Plan ahead just a few days, makes a huge difference in prices. Just took the whole family from Scotland to Newcastle for day trip, under £70 return. Booked less than a week in advance.
@sarah_go_green Scrap standing charges first. Then scrap stupidly low rates like Sarah has that only rewards EV owners who have solar to offset the expensive rates. I've got an EV but also work from home so I can't go split rates and I now have to restrict driving to afford my bills.
@GeorgeJ29459361@BBCBreakfast Absolutely agree with this. It's a rip off, offer zero value to consumers and is just an income stream for doing nothing.
For most folk it's about £25 a month in standing charges. That's at least 1/3 to 1/4 of the monthly bill. For literally zero consumption.
@BBCBreakfast Electricity should be consistently getting cheaper year on year not more and more expensive. And the idea is of an ever increasing "Price cap" is also moronic.
In Scotland our generation is so high and consumption so low we should be getting paid to consume excess.
@andyburnham In other news, all energy firms are just about to put their prices up. So exactly fuck all savings will be made for Joe Public.
Folks will just be able to tread water for a few months longer until winter hits and bills go fucking crazy again!
@Nationwide And yet again, for the 4th year I somehow didn't qualify! A 20+ year member with a mortgage, savings ISA and a current account and apparently none of them qualified! There's a scam going on here!
Can long term members get some clues from @Nationwide for 2026 fairer share "rules" so we don't get left out while rats who only switch bank accounts get payouts left right and centre. Maybe reward small savers rather than big spenders! 🤷 Just a thought, and considerably fairer!
@neso_energy Watch this space. Unseasonably warm summer leads to electricity generators petitioning for the price cap to rise again. The price will only rise until people start losing their homes because they can't pay their bills. 🤷
@TaraBull In the UK you go out to eat to have a meal, not to supplement a businesses poor ability to pay a living wage. Any tip is for exceptional service and not because the restaurant owner is a tight git who doesn't value their employees!🤷
@sscmark@1963Firestick Lucky you , queued once for a charger! This is not the experience others have. I've queued plenty of times in my 11years EV ownership. It's also only ever 10seconds to charge when you're at home. It's 45mins when I public charge if there's no queue. 🤷
