This week has been rough for Bungie employees and the Destiny community. I thought I could weigh in with a slightly different perspective -- one as someone who has been part of the layoff process at a big company. https://t.co/e6l4K8E0sc
I'd love your thoughts and feedback.
Finally getting around to separating things into one account for gaming (see @heimidal) and another for work/everything else (this). Go follow that one if you're interested in my future gaming hot takes.
@PaulTassi@Forbes The way you’re reporting about stock compensation being “reverted to Bungie” is inaccurate and it’s leading people to think Bungie is ripping away stock that’s already owned by employees. I think you’re awesome, but I don’t think this is a great representation.
@nerdilyrages I think that quote (along with the one about player retention) is getting the least charitable reading imaginable. The community is out for blood and looking for any way to spin something to be overtly aggressive.
Watching the Destiny community reaction to the Bungie/Sony layoffs is as much as a spectacle as it is a study in how critical comms are in a crisis. They are catching a lot of deserved flack, but it could be a lot less terrible if they just said *something* to their customers.
@nerdilyrages They haven’t even come out and said the delay is happening. It’s one thing to avoid a statement that could be misconstrued, but it’s another thing to not even communicate the effects to your customer.
@ActuallyOmniMan @AscendantNomad “Management” and “IC” are the two employee tracks at basically every company. Every VP I know would describe themselves as being “in management”. I’ll assume you don’t know any.
@ActuallyOmniMan @AscendantNomad ……… yes. So were the lawyers who wrote the contracts and the finance managers who closed the transactions. How is that relevant to this conversation?
