@devincf He wasn’t pointing to SL to elevate the game. SL is a good ex for this analogy because for most people it’s commonly understood to be a tough movie to emotionally get through. But 1 that is worth the journey. So no, don’t know that it would be more or less offensive for 12 Years.

@devincf But do you get that the content of the movie isn’t what he’s talking about? It’s not whether the movie won an Oscar. SL made him want to hit the STOP button. LoU2 made him want to put the controller down. That’s all he meant. He was using movies to illustrate that point.

@devincf Nothing to do with subject matter in either case. He’s not talking about zombies or the Holocaust. He’s talking about a medium’s use of violence as something other than entertainment. He picked a movie that made him feel repugnant to violence, difficult yet impactful to consume.
