Wow, thanks for nothing!
Please everyone, retweet, tag YouTube and make as much noise as possible.
They can take your income away just because they want to, and without involving lawyers you will get nothing.
Please don’t let me fight alone.
Unfortunately, like most other posts about companies "halting DEI policies" this is completely untrue.
AWS has a person attending BRIDGE's 2025 retreat in May as a part of their Steering Committee. Amy Horn is listed as AWS' "Customer Experience Evangelist"
While this job title has been used in the past at companies for tech-related job leaders, Amy's previous titles were DEI focused. This is similar subversion of language to Change Management. Change Management/Change Control is a term used for project management in general in corporations, however it is recently being applied to previous DEI officers in an attempt to obfuscate what their jobs and processes are to outside observers.
@Grummz posted a tweet with article screenshots about how amazon is winding down their DEI programs
However, in his 2nd screenshot the article states:
An archived version of the page from November 2024 shows two separate sections with the headings “The inequitable treatment of Black people is unacceptable,” and “The rights of LGBTQ+ people must be protected.”
The current page removes both sections in favor of a single sentence reading
"We also believe that inequitable treatment of anyone—including Black people, LGBTQ+ people, Asians, women, and others—is unacceptable, and we advocate for policies designed to remove barriers to equity and create an inclusive environment for all employees."
This basically states they are changing nothing, all they did was combine 2 separate sections into 1.
Additionally in the screenshot it says
The company also replaced a section heading stating “Diversity, equity, and inclusion are good for business—and more fundamentally, they’re simply right.” with “We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive company that helps us build the best range of products and services for our broad customer base.”
Once again, showing they have changed absolutely nothing and are not removing any aspects of DEI
Further, if you read more of the article not in Grummz screenshots you can read the full Amazon memo where they state
In the last few years we took a new approach, reviewing hundreds of programs across the company, using science to evaluate their effectiveness, impact, and ROI – identifying the ones we believed should continue. Each one of these addresses a specific disparity, and is designed to end when that disparity is eliminated. In parallel, we worked to unify employee groups together under one umbrella, and build programs that are open to all. Rather than have individual groups build programs, we are focusing on programs with proven outcomes – and we also aim to foster a more truly inclusive culture. You can read more about this on our Together at Amazon page on A to Z.
Not only is this them admitting that they aren't scaling back any DEI programs due to backlash or how DEI is "toxic", but that the plan had been for these programs to end once specific goals have been reached. They do not name any specific programs or what goals have or have not been reached. At the end, the "Together at Amazon page on A to Z" is a link that takes you to a log in page asking for your amazon name and security pin so the page cannot be read. It appears only amazon employees can access the link and information therein.
They also state
This approach – where we move away from programs that were separate from our existing processes, and instead integrating our work into existing processes so they become durable— is the evolution to “built in” and “born inclusive,” instead of “bolted on.” As part of this evolution, we’ve been winding down outdated programs and materials, and we’re aiming to complete that by the end of 2024.
This is BRIDGE language, they are evolving their programs to be part of the DNA of the company, to be integrated in every day practices, rather than a tacked on effort. Updating outdated programs is not getting rid of them.

I've talked at length before, and will relink my tweet on Diversity Atlas and Amazon's partnership under this post. Diversity Atlas is the world's leading diversity data analytics platform from Cultural Infusion. AWS has released several playbooks since their partnership in 2021 on their planned trajectory for DEI policies. The last playbook was released in December 2023. AWS also released a white paper--also linked in my tweet below--in March 2024 about the benefits of using Diversity Atlas.
In August 2024, Diversity Atlas had a speaker at AWS' Imagine:Nonprofit and in October 2024 AWS and Diversity Atlas had speakers on a panel together at LeadWomen APAC DEI Summit 2024, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Amazon has not released a 2024 playbook with Diversity Atlas, but it does not seem like Amazon has stopped partnering with them. Does this mean Amazon is actually doing away with the playbook, or just that it is no longer publicly available, much like that link in the Verge article that is not accessible unless you are amazon personnel.
I am not trying to demoralize anyone, I am just tired of seeing people claiming we are winning or that DEI policy is being removed from places when in plain text these companies tell you "nothing is changing, the work will continue, we are committed to doing this work"

Have fun, chill out, it's not that serious bro.
Just going to weigh into the Dev situation one more time before I go to bed. My forum was able to capture this. After Pippa called him fat, he attempted to slur in her chat, and bypass the Youtube wordfilter. Real sophisticated and enlightened centrist behavior there!
