Building 2 well on its way.
This is our 2nd of 3 structural masonry buildings for our walkable infill project, Townsend.
The remaining live/works and townhomes will be wood framed with brick veneer.
Pretty cool to have these buildings anchor the development.
The US doesn't lack skilled craft labor—we have a workforce planning crisis. When the economics, wages, and training opportunities are enticing, people line up for the trades. Stop blaming the workers, start planning properly. 👉https://t.co/KG1AjsDBK1

Quite right. Make Infrastructure Beautiful Again. The most effective way to do this is simply to ask people what they like. Trust the people on this, not experts due to the “design disconnect”, the consistent disagreement between high status & normal views on aesthetic which …

@columbusbiz1st@CSICincyChapter Don't believe all the hype; wood still burns (after the "char" falls off, more wood is exposed); moisture during construction is much more of an issue; and often its not cheaper due to added fire protection and availability. Don't forget about #masonry.
Design isn’t limited by standard formats. Special shaped clay bricks resolve complex junctions without the aesthetic compromise. Clay brick specials opens the door to endless design opportunities, allowing creativity and precision to work hand in hand. https://t.co/jzjNDcFqtV
Same material, total transformation. 🧱

Old Chicago common bricks are now a hot commodity, often salvaged from demolition sites. Homeowners in the South in particular seem to have an affinity for their weathered look. https://t.co/C1lLqBsjAF

@UrbanCourtyard One way to make social housing desirable is to use more masonry. Fiber cement and other cheap claddings require too much maintenance. Look at the work of @DattnerArch and their use of masonry for ideas.
BACNJ Launches Immersive Virtual Reality Training Program to Prepare Next Generation of Bricklayers - https://t.co/TS3isL1x4K This is why the masonry trade is becoming so attractive to people looking for a stable career that is also forward looking.
@ScottFarbman@AFeinhandler@rhett_carlson They're not still using the Chicago wall are they (brick and block composite wall)? Energy codes and just common sense says to build a cavity wall (Lstiburek's perfect wall). C'mon, get with it!
@BlairKamin C'mon Blair, you're an architecture critic. A "splash of color" does not make good architecture. The problem starts with cheap construction and cladding. Color may be the only way to make it better, which isn't saying much. Masonry looks good when used on any facade.
@PITairport and @JetBlue unfortunately, baggage claim on a Sunday night is no faster than the old landslide terminal #fail is there just one person working???
