Not to mention signage that points to the importance of mental health, but then actions that don’t speak the same message. Signage is not enough, and training is necessary to equip providers with the tools to care for the entirety of their patient’s health

I am often disappointed with how mental health is discussed in primary care. Today I had: phq2 that went unaddressed, as well as “you’re not depressed, right?” and, “well, everyone gets sad”. This makes the experience invalidating and closed off to MH concerns… let’s do better

And that’s it! Just submitted my final assignment of the semester. It was a wild year! I defended my master’s thesis this past week and officially earned my MA. I have continued to be reminded of the wonderfully supportive professional and personal networks I have in my life 🥳

@KimiaAkhavein In the UNC Charlotte Health Psychology program we get $500 per academic year. We also have the opportunity for $800 a year through the graduate student organization of the university. Hope this helps!
