@BenShindel But imagine if people channel the amount of time and energy they spend recycling paper and plastic into some other more obviously environmentally beneficial inconvenience: tracking and eating all the food they buy, putting on a jumper, having a less "low maintenance" driveway.
I'm wandering around talking about my embodied feminist retelling of Welsh mythology The Bloody Branch.

@MikeMitdit @WombsNotForRent I can't understand any benefit when there are millions of already-born children who have no one to take care of them.
There's no way of stopping monsters from becoming parents in the ordinary way, that's not a relevant comparison
@MikeMitdit @WombsNotForRent The strongest argument against surrogacy isn't even the terrible things that go wrong. @MikeMitdit @WombsNotForRent Wow. Boiled frog much. Whatever their views on surrogacy most parents would find these examples difficult to read without deep distress.

The Gaiman story shows we can't substitute the notion of 'consent' for proper attention to the terrible abuse which can spring from power, wealth and fame. Violating consent is one red line we should keep clear. We must set other limits without blurring that one.
In the wake of the Neil Gaiman sexual abuse allegations, there are some who are claiming he hid behind BDSM practices in order to abuse.
