भारतीय सेना की 137 सीईटीएफ बटालियन, 39 गोरखा राइफल की गंगा टास्क फोर्स ने कानपुर नगर के बिठूर स्थित पत्थर घाट पर मातृ छाया गुरुकुलम के विद्यार्थियों एवं स्थानीय नागरिकों के साथ गंगा स्वच्छता अभियान चलाया।

अभियान के दौरान गंगा स्वच्छता एवं पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रति जागरूक करते हुए सभी को स्वच्छता की शपथ दिलाई गई तथा पौधों का वितरण किया गया। इस अवसर पर संदेश दिया गया कि गंगा हमारी आस्था, संस्कृति और जीवन का आधार है। इसकी स्वच्छता बनाए रखना हम सभी की सामूहिक जिम्मेदारी है। सभी से नदी में कचरा न फेंकने, प्लास्टिक का कम उपयोग करने और स्वच्छता के प्रति जागरूकता फैलाने का आह्वान किया गया।

घड़ियाल गंगा की सबसे प्राचीन और दुर्लभ जीवित प्रजातियों में से एक है।
यह मुख्य रूप से मछलियों पर निर्भर रहता है और जलीय जीवों की आबादी को संतुलित बनाए रखने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाता है। घड़ियालों की स्वस्थ संख्या इस बात का संकेत है कि नदी में अब भी पर्याप्त गहराई, स्वच्छ प्रवाह और जीवन मौजूद है।

लेकिन अवैध रेत खनन, बढ़ता प्रदूषण और सिकुड़ते नदी तट इसके प्राकृतिक आवास को लगातार नुकसान पहुँचा रहे हैं।
घड़ियालों के बिना नदी की खाद्य श्रृंखला कमजोर पड़ने लगती है और पारिस्थितिक संतुलन धीरे-धीरे बिगड़ने लगता है।
जब यह संतुलन टूटता है, तो नदी भी खामोशी से इसकी कीमत चुकाती है।

गंगा के अपने वन्यजीवों की संख्या कम नहीं है, बल्कि उनके संरक्षण और अस्तित्व की आवश्यकता है। घड़ियाल का संरक्षण, गंगा के स्वस्थ और जीवंत भविष्य की रक्षा है।

गंगा डॉल्फिन केवल एक जलीय जीव नहीं, बल्कि गंगा की जीवंतता का प्रतीक भी है। यह दुर्लभ प्रजाति केवल स्वच्छ और निरंतर बहने वाली नदियों में ही जीवित रह सकती है। इसलिए इसकी मौजूदगी इस बात का संकेत है कि गंगा का पारिस्थितिक तंत्र स्वस्थ और संतुलित है।

गंगा डॉल्फिन मछलियों की आबादी को संतुलित बनाए रखने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती है और नदी के स्वास्थ्य की एक प्राकृतिक सूचक भी है।
लेकिन बढ़ता प्रदूषण, जल प्रवाह में कमी और मानवीय हस्तक्षेप इसके अस्तित्व के लिए गंभीर खतरा बन रहे हैं।
जब किसी नदी से डॉल्फिन लुप्त होने लगती है, तो यह चेतावनी होती है कि नदी का प्राकृतिक संतुलन बिगड़ रहा है।

गंगा डॉल्फिन का संरक्षण केवल एक प्रजाति को बचाने का प्रयास नहीं, बल्कि गंगा और उससे जुड़े करोड़ों जीवनों के भविष्य को सुरक्षित करने का संकल्प है।

कभी लोग कहते थे कि गंगा बदल नहीं सकती।

आज मेरी धारा में 6,324 डॉल्फिन हैं। मेरे किनारों पर 33,024 हेक्टेयर हरियाली लौट आई है। 205 लाख मत्स्य शिशु मेरे जल में छोड़े गए हैं। मेरे प्राणियों के लिए देश की पहली डॉल्फिन रेस्क्यू एम्बुलेंस चल रही है।

और दुनिया ने भी इस बदलाव को पहचाना है।

इस विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस पर मैं सिर्फ एक नदी की कहानी नहीं हूँ। मैं उस भरोसे की कहानी हूँ कि जब प्रकृति को अवसर दिया जाता है, तो वह लौटती है। और जब एक नदी लौटती है, तो उसके साथ उसका पूरा संसार लौटता है।

माँ गंगा और उनका संसार, फिर से जीवन से भर रहा है। विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस की सभी देशवासियों को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं।

Uttarakhand is quietly setting a benchmark that every Ganga basin state should be watching.

In 2015, the state had 24 sewage treatment plants handling 152.9 MLD of wastewater. By 2024, that number stands at 69 plants and 428 MLD, capacity nearly tripled, systematically.

This was built milestone by milestone.

A sewerage byelaw in 2008 laid the legal foundation. A septage management protocol in 2017 formalised safe collection and treatment of faecal sludge. And through it all, plant after plant came online along the Ganga corridor.

Today, four cities namely Dehradun, Mussoorie, Rudrapur and Lalkuan stand as lighthouse models, showing the rest of India what determined urban sanitation looks like.

And the work continues. Ongoing projects will push capacity to approx. 700 MLD.

Uttarakhand is not just keeping pace. It is setting the standard. This is Namami Gange at work, not just in the river, but in the infrastructure that protects it.

Under Namami Gange, interception systems prevent polluted flows from reaching the Ganga. Sewage is redirected to treatment plants, where it is cleaned before being safely released or reused.
