We are creating a “brave” space to change the trajectory around instructional practices to ensure ALL students success. @SyracuseSchools the DEB Leads are ready for this “heart work.”
We welcomed our DEB leads today to join us in this “hard and heart” work. We are excited to collaborate and join hands with such amazing educators! @SyracuseSchools#DEBLeadstheway
I am so fortunate to be learning this week at #idsj2023 in Westport, CT. We've done work around anti-bias education and the dynamics of oppression. I personally have been so excited to see my #biracial identity represented! Thank you @SCSDDEB for this opportunity! @ProfKJoshi
First day of the Institute for Teaching Diversity and Social Justice! A great first day of diving into the foundation of IDSJ. We are very excited for day 2. Thank you to @SCSDDEB for allowing us to participate in this amazing work.

Fast forward to this morning. We again did our affirmations and this time MULTIPLE students raised their hands, all adding on one and their peers repeating after them. My heart has never been so full❤️ I am so proud to be their teacher.
So every morning in my class we start our day with positive affirmations. I usually say them and the students repeat. Yesterday after we finished a studnet raised her hand and asked if she could add some too, I was slightly surprised, yet ecstatic inside.
