@WhickTv@TheOmniLiberal Probably FARA investigations and prosecutions, alongside strengthening laws regarding advancing the agenda of adversaries without blatant disclosure. The current paradigm of “let everyone speak sunlight is the best medicine for misinfo” has been irrevocable damaging to country.
@PiscoLitty@thepondering_ That would also make packing the court, and anything else in the next Dem agenda much easier to pass. It should be 1.) abolish the filibuster 2.) add all inhabited US territories as new states to be immediately admitted. 3) raise the cap of house members to 490 4.) pack SCOTUS.
@PiscoLitty@thepondering_ I’d rather add 9-10 solid democratic senators, and upping the 435 cap up to 490, then we’d have 600 legislators and 165 extra electoral votes than just 5 new justices, with a bipartisan nomination process.
@BriannaWu@mattyglesias Two words, town meeting. Local government is far too powerful of veto point and give localities far too much policy making power. I mean just look at the MBTA housing bill the state acknowledged a need for housing but every suburb of Boston fought tooth and nail with BS lawsuits.
@BriannaWu Cus kids doing sports is a good thing we should encourage regardless of their sex? Also sex advantage isn’t even relevant until like high school when sports actually start to mean stuff. It’s only controversial because republicans are degenerate subhumans with no empathy.
@alonberk@BriannaWu Fine by me. If they want to make fun of themselves by implying they are, in fact, retarded, they can knock themselves out, preferably until 2029.
@mattyglesias I mean the logic should have been, the GOP controls the government via majorities in both chambers and the presidency, we shouldn’t help them pass legislation. Idk why we have to structure our government so that the opposition party is necessary to pass legislation.
@WhickTv@ShaneTe12455399 The line is already pretty bright, if people are having trouble seeing that, not a “Dems need to try harder problem” but a Americans being stupid problem
@WhickTv@ShaneTe12455399 Not even close to disqualifying in our current era of politics, Republicans talk like that all the time. He didn’t threaten anybody directly, he made an edgy joke about shooting a Republican over Hitler in a hypothetical. The bad thing about this is his lack of professionalism
@mattyglesias Best example is the phase MA went through electing Republican Governors like Weld, Cellucci, Romney, and Baker, then also returning Dem supermajorities in the legislature.
@BradRTorgersen@cnctNow@janecoaston Did you have a fucking stroke guy what the fuck are you saying. Being in opposition to something is not inherently its own ideology in and of itself.
@cnctNow@BradRTorgersen@janecoaston A true believer has incentives to disregard information that challenges their existing beliefs, in the same way a persons bad experiences can negatively bias them against the faith. Solid epistemic practice tells us to source information from a variety of sources, then evaluate.
@cnctNow@BradRTorgersen@janecoaston Yes, when researching an ideology, you want to both inquire about it from both opponents and detractors, as well as looking at the source material itself. Saying that detractors have motives to lie is fine, I’m not taking them at face value, but I can say the same for believers.
