Aww my parents and sister sent me a Match Day care package with decorations and fun treats! Sad I can’t celebrate this day with them in person, but love them for making this day as special as they can from far away ❤️ #match2021#medpeds
2/x Here are our demands of @TulaneMedicine:
1) Immediate reinstatement of Dr. Princess Dennar to her position as program director for the Tulane Med-Peds residency program.
2) Immediate resignation of Dr. Jeffrey Wiese, Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education and DIO.
1/x We, the #MedPeds21 applicants, stand with #DrDennar, the residents of @TulaneMedPeds, & students @ Tulane. Violence & discrimination were perpetrated against #DrDennar over several years while she tried to protect her residents of color who were subject to the same violence.
(1/x) Last night the #MedPeds21 group chat was rocked with news of a sudden change in program leadership for the MedPeds residency at Tulane University. Dr. Dennar, the first Black female program director at Tulane, was no longer PD.
We think of Salk when we think of the polio vaccine. Not President Eisenhower.
We should think of Sahin and Tureci when we think of the Covid vaccine.
Scientists develop vaccines.
Not governments.
I love doctors who advocate and speak up about societal inequalities and inequities.
Medicine is more than finding the correct diagnosis and treating that condition.
Medicine is social justice.
