Transitioning from theoretical to practical
So one thing I’ve realized about cooking is that it is somewhat similar to software development.
In order to learn something new, I used to watch countless tutorials on youtube, buy lots of books, courses etc. but never really implement any of them. But watching someone else do it gave me the satisfaction that I was doing it myself, which turned out to be incorrect & a procrastination activity disguised as a productive step.
So now I learn what is needed to solve the current business problem & immediately try to put that in action by writing a piece of code, trying to run it and seeing how it works.
I am adopting a similar approach to cooking. I’ve watched countless vegan cooking shows and bought more than 20 books .. most of them sitting on the shelf. But no more. I find one recipe that I like from the files here or another compliant recipe & I immediately stop studying or warching further recipes/videos & try to cook/prepare that recipe. And then I see how I like it, adjust the seasonings etc. and capture that in my digital notebook.
While previously I was just reading recipes or watching videos until I felt hungry & then eating some junk food because no healthy meal was already cooked/available, now I’m beginning to realize that having meals ready before I feel hungry is a super critical ingredient to staying compliant with a healthy lifestyle.
Sure there are lots of recipes which dont need any cooking or minimal cooking but most of the indian recipes I currently know require about 30min -1 hour investment.
But a meal in hand is better than many recipes in the bush (book).
Choosing taking action over hoarding information.
I got 25/36 on this facial expression reading test. I was curious how Jessica would do, so I sent it to her. She got 36/36. She really is the social radar. (via @markessien)

What is measured can be improved.
What isn’t measured can’t be improved.
What isn’t measured will (usually) worsen overtime.
(Similar to weeds taking over an untended garden)
If you desire to stay healthy, you need to continue to measure things (weight, BP etc) periodically.
@florinpop17 Thanks Florin. Was primarily cooking at home - that probably explains the difficulty in weighing each major calorific ingredient, but now i know tracking works
@florinpop17 Thanks. But did you calculate the calorific value of each of your 3 meals a day and enter it in yazio for 1.5 years? I tried doing this for few weeks (on paper) and found it incredibly time consuming so wanted to check how you approached it.

Quickly becoming a fan of magic mouse, several years after swearing by MX Master.
But had to find the right mouse-pad and make a couple of minor adjustments to the grip.
Underside of mouse has a adhesive to reduce scraping noise on the metal (aluminium) mouse-pad surface.
Underside of mouse pad has rubber slip resistant adhesives on 4 corners.
And finally, an increase in mouse sensitivity adjustment in macOS settings.
Discovered a simple trick to hide website ads, especially sidebar ads.
On macOS, enable "Smart Zoom" and double tap with one finger on a Magic Mouse while reading an article in Chrome.
This action smartly zooms in to focus solely on the article content.
Being in the technology industry is a great way to 'stay young', regardless of your age.
Sure it feels highly volatile and like a roller coaster most of the years, but over time you get used to it and may even enjoy it.
You'll succeed especially if you look forward to learning new things and the satisfaction that comes with watching something you've built is unparalleled.
I think it means 1 Jul - 31 Aug .. ALL DAYS i.e. no parking permitted between 10am and 6pm even on weekdays.
But for rest of the year, you can park weekdays.
So probably some event is happening in Jul/Aug for which parking is prohibited even on weekdays, but beyond that parking is prohibited only on weekends/BH.
