๐ฎ H2: Project Gravemind โ First Look!
I'd like to introduce H2: Project Gravemind, a project inspired by H3: Project Reclaimer, created by the community, for the community, with the goal of keeping the Halo 2 experience alive.
This is just a first look. In the coming days, I'll be releasing the project for everyone to try out and share their first impressions. All reviews, suggestions, and bug reports are more than welcome! โค๏ธ
I'm currently working on implementing split-screen multiplayer and fixing a few bugs to improve the overall experience.
๐ Important requirement: To use this project, each user must own their own legitimate copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC). The project does not include any original game files.
Thank you to everyone who supports community-driven projects like this! This is just the beginning. ๐๐

@GraywolfxGaming We could recover the structure. But the styles, logos, sounds, and so onโthatโs a different matter. After all, you know about copyright, and Microsoft takes those issues very seriously.
@Beerman15987495 Anyway, I hope to share my project with the cartographer, and that ultimatelyโand in the futureโthey will be the ones to manage and maintain it. They deserve it.
@ZooL_Smith We are currently working on the decompilation of Halo 2 alongside the team behind the Halo 1 project. However, this decompilation is time-consuming and resource-intensive. This project is built upon the MCC version of Halo 2.
Why develop Project Gravemind when Project Cartographer already exists?
Because we have a different vision for Halo 2.
Project Gravemind is being developed on Halo: The Master Chief Collection, with the goal of bringing back the essence of the classic Xbox experience, including its original interface and split-screen on PC. But our ambitions go far beyond that.
We're also exploring the possibility of supporting massive multiplayer matches with up to 128 players, following the direction of the corresponding Halo 1 and Halo 3 projects. We want to push Halo 2 toward new possibilities without losing what made it special in the first place.
While we respect the work behind Project Cartographer, we believe there's still plenty of room for the experience to evolve. Our vision isn't simply about preserving the classic game; it's about introducing improvements, new features, and functionality that reflect what communities expect from games today.
Our goals include exploring compatibility with official Steam Workshop mods, expanding customization options, and developing many other improvements that we'll be revealing in the coming days.
This is only the beginning. We have plenty of ideas in development, and we want to build something that goes beyond the conventional, with the community playing a fundamental role in the project.
It's not about replacing what's already out there. It's about exploring everything Halo 2 can still become.
Built by the community, for the community. ๐
