We're all talking about the COVID-19 crisis unfolding in Wilcannia. But it's much more than this awful tragedy. This back catalogue of Wilcannia stories might help you fill in the gaps and imagine the place. We owe it to a town often only talked about for the wrong reasons.
#wilcannia demands apology after John Barilaro compares mourners to 'dickheads in Maroubra'.
"There were no restrictions out here at the time of my little brother's funeral."

The reporting on the Wilcannia funeral is not mentioning that at the time the funeral was held, 100 people WERE ALLOWED to attend a funeral in regional NSW under the rules. Really important this is mentioned for context to avoid racist dogwhistling about Aboriginal community.
@LucyThack@DharriwaaEGroup@bhiamie@Dave_Kirby86 Hi Lucy! There is a Bourke community info FB group where a lot of info is being shared you may find someone there. Have you contacted the Western Herald?
It’s so worrying - communities like Bourke are taking up to 4/5 days to receive test results back. How can there be accurate reporting and response to cases if this is the reality. People having to retest, lost swab samples, no access to food, the stories are sad & stressful.
