We are not defined by title. Even if it is socially acceptable and good, such as “mom”. Even a noble job, still needs to be limited to the category of mission, not meaning.
I am so thankful for this summer. I am so thankful for the chance we have as a family to be a place where hearing and deaf are all part of the main scene. Thank you God for giving us sons who care deeply for each other.
These two super heroes have been by each other’s side for every adventure. The pretend land of “them against the world”,is soon coming to a close. We have always prayed for these two to have a super tight bond. As my hearing son enters a mainstream school for the first time...
The worry in me wells up... How will this affect their relationship? What will happen to this bros natural impulse to sign... he has no idea people count 1,2,3 and don’t use their thumbs...( honestly for that part, I’m proud)
there is so much more to do/be/grow in to make sure my son has as much access to life as he should. But first, I will actively work to trust the One who gave me that gift, that He is the One in charge and He is able to comfort my son, more than my quiet song could ever provide ❤️
Met a woman who’s friends just found out their baby is deaf. Such a unique thing. It’s a line in the sand.
I remember vividly- Before my sons follow-up audiology appointment I was singing my 3 week old calm, then after, I was stopping myself mid melody as tears replaced lyrics.
It was, is and will continue to be a gracious and loving gift from God to have a deaf son. I am so thankful and wouldn’t change it, but it doesn’t mean it’s without grief. I was reminded again of what those initial moments are like. I’m so thankful to be where we are now...
It’s amazing how quiet two bros are when seriously focused on fighting fires and communicating solely in ASL. Thank you deaf firefighters! You make these guy’s view of themselves and their capabilities wide open! #deafcan
God to Elijah during a drought “... I have commanded the RAVENS to feed you”. Then later when the brook dried up... “I have commanded a WIDOW there to feed you”.
Gods provision... in unexpected ways...but always AT HIS COMMAND. He is working!
Before bed-I signed a story with my son abt 2 brothers starting a shoe ice cream business ... at his suggestion, It was to be marketed for firehouse dogs and life-saving police cheetahs. Obvi. 💁🏻♀️
If not for God’s grace and ASL- bed time could have looked so different #whyisign
Extracurricular can be hard in all kinds of complicated ways with one hearing and one deaf- today we finished our last game of our deaf/HoH/coda/siblings baseball team. So grateful for the chance for our boys to play on the same team 😊🤠
@DeafHistorian As a Bible believer I don’t think the vaccine is the mark of the beast- but I can see how one would think things could move in that direction. Hope this helps 😊
@DeafHistorian Hi! Just saw this randomly on my feed and wanted to offer my thoughts. The Bible says nearing the end of the world, there will be some form of identification required in order to buy or sell food or anything. I think people feel the vaccine passports mimic this closely.
Tonight - taking care of my car for me, Pete had to run home cause the car wouldn’t start. It was exactly 2 miles away. He was home in less than 15 minutes. I COULD NOT be more impressed with that man!
I made him a metal. 🥇
