So, yesterday, I posted an inflammatory thread about the momentum of Pierre Poilievre. It was meant as a cautionary tale about the need for progressives to see and understand where his momentum is coming from, and to meet Canadians where they are. 1/6
Doug Ford dropped masks too soon. Now we’re paying the price. Ford can protect folks and keep hospitals from being overrun by updating masking, returning broad PCR testing and giving workers 10 paid sick days.
If he won't, he and Dr. Moore need to step up to explain why. #ONpoli
Just finished my 7th consult in < 24 h for a patient admitted (FOR) acute #Covid19. Every one of them unvaccinated or immune-suppressed. Wastewater signal up + masks down ain't a good combo. Ontario, your next wave is now. Pay attention. Please.
A very worthwhile read by @NoLore:
“The collective trauma of the COVID-19 pandemic will define the coming decades for millions of Canadians who suffered” https://t.co/siciCWvkq9
Learning to "live with COVID" doesn't mean we ignore COVID...It means we upgrade ventilation. Offer PCR tests. Wear masks to protect each other. Provide paid sick days for workers. Build trust to increase vaccine uptake....It doesn't mean we ignore it. It means we deal with it!
happy #IWD including and especially to trans women, sex working women, incarcerated women, Black and Indigenous women, and so many others who are partially or wholly rejected from the category of "woman" when it suits the needs of the status quo.
I dare a single Canadian to complain about their lack of freedom for being offered a life-saving vaccine at no cost, when 40 million Ukrainians are under the deadly weight of tyranny.
Who else thinks the Ontario government should continue to charge for license plate renewals rather than lose $1 billion of annual revenue which could go towards health care & education? ✋🏽
As Ontario eliminates licence renewal fees, the province still has not eliminated the wait list for autism services which now stands at over 50,000 children.
The sad irony: The "freedom" convoy actually had a lot of freedom...To travel across the country. To honk their horns all day & night. To party in hot tubs. To occupy Ottawa for 3 straight weeks.
Privilege is having freedom & having no clue that you have it.
@NaheedD Accountability & leadership is doing right by principle & integrity. If you contradict science, dismiss vaccine impact on a whim & determine end of threat with no credible record to back it, you imperil others & have lost your privilege to lead. Period.
After 2 gruelling years of this pandemic & all the lessons we've learned, hearing Ontario's Premier spew COVID misinformation yesterday is such a slap in the face of every health worker who has sacrificed so much to keep the people of this province safe. Ontarians deserve better!
Important to note that Sloly can fail as a police chief, be sabotaged by his rank and file, sandbagged by police union, and be the victim of institutional racism inherent in policing and politics. None of these things are mutually exclusive.
Luke warm take: if the increased regulatory scrutiny of protest financing ends this (and I think it might), it will be the most perfectly boring YOW outcome possible. Come at Ottawa, and we will Canada Gazette Part I you into submission.
Day 19: City Hall is closed. Libraries are closed. The largest mall in the city is closed. Dozens of independent businesses are closed. But fear not: police services board is meeting again this morning #ottnews#OttawaOccupied#onpoli#cdnpoli
Police cannot be the cause of and solution to all of society's problems. Don't let the narrative become this ridiculous Simpsons quote.
