Those were the words 24 year old Welles Crowther spoke to survivors trapped on the 78th floor of the South Tower on September 11, 2001.

With a red bandana covering his face, he led people down the stairs, carried an injured woman, and then turned around and went back up to help more.

He never made it out.

For months, survivors knew him only as the Man in the Red Bandana. Then they finally learned his name: Welles Crowther.
