Had a great time visiting CNRS Orleans for @CEMHTICNRS@DeakinIfm student Dani Kourati's PhD thesis defence. Great job Dani! Who knew you were a fan of Birmingham football team Aston Villa!
Our colleagues from @unibirmingham@brittonMRI visit us today to discuss progress and further plans on multimodal imaging of Na-ion batteries. 💪 @EnergyMatBham
Really sad news about the passing of Ken Packer. He was a giant in the field of magnetic resonance. I am enormously grateful for the encouragement he gave me as a postdoc in @ChemistryUoN.
The penultimate day of our PG symposium is about to start and we’re kicking it off today with talks from @claire_chem from @brittonMRI group, Thomas Wensley and Elisabetta Labella from @Group_RGupta, and @cgposteguillo from @Para_Bham group! Thanks to @ValeMolecola for chairing!
Just attended the online funeral for my PhD supervisor, Les Sutcliffe. Very sad but can rejoice in his full and long life. A superb researcher and patient teacher. I am enormously grateful for everything he taught me and the support and encouragement he gave me.
Great to see our paper on 23Na MRI of sodium in batteries has been selected on the Nature Communications Editors' Highlights page (https://t.co/zNmoQjKFhW)
Am so excited about our recent Nature Communications paper visualising, in operando, sodium plating in sodium ion batteries, for the first time, by 23Na MRI (https://t.co/HUTmagfMni) with @EnergyMatBham @claire_chem @titiricigroup@SPMIC_UoN@Bosonator
Material for lithium-ion batteries is in limited supply. As we evaluate alternative tech, how do we "see inside" to improve safety and closer match performance of Li-ion devices? An exciting collaboration, and the best MRI work of my professional life. https://t.co/aWCSkiLg3k

Today’s Periodic Table element is HELIUM. Senior Lecturer in Chemistry, Dr Melanie Britton, discusses how Helium is used in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to analyse chemical reactions. Now discover more about our research around the elements #yearoftheperiodictable
