Yes games got more expensive but that’s because projects are overwhelmingly mismanaged and the industry is rife with an executive layer that doesn’t play games.
This is compounded by how games are funded and the fact that so many studios are being consolidated.
The worst thing to happen to games was private equity noticing we are the largest media industry and expecting us to make ROI like the tech industries. Invest, inflate, go public.
The games industry uses tech, but we are a creative industry, and that seems to be forgotten by too many in charge.
I’ve argued with people before that we are more like film, we use a lot of the same tech as film, but we are a part of the arts and media.
