it is so psychologically difficult to do math research in the ai era. if you're doing it for any reason other than pure curiosity, you're going to have a really bad time. there's no money in it. all prestige is gone. future career options are bleak. it feels like anything you're currently working on is completely meaningless because it's going to be solved in a couple years by ai anyways. it's a weird feeling. phd to homeless pipeline gonna go crazy
