My name is Lavern Spicer and I been Black all my life.

I only been a Republican since Donald Trump.

How did it happen?

One day I noticed that everything that was a problem in the 60s is still a problem today:

Homelessness.
Addiction.
Food insecurity.
Crime.
Illiteracy.

The world we live in got better.

But the Black community didn’t.

And the one constant is that we always vote Democrat.

That’s when the bell went off.

Our communities don’t get better because our elected officials don’t make them better.

So I started asking myself:

HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO KEEP DOING THE SAME THING AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT?

I realized I had spent my entire life being told that voting Democrat was the only way for Black people.

It took me to stop and ask IS IT WORKING?

I didn’t become a Republican because somebody told me to.

I became a Republican because I started LOOKING AT THE RESULTS.

And once I did that, I couldn’t unsee it.

That’s the conversation I want to have with my brothers and sisters.

Not “Why aint you voting Republican?”

But: WHY ARE YOU VOTING FOR PEOPLE WHO NEVER FIX YOUR PROBLEMS?

And we stand in line all day at the DMV just for the privilege. ENOUGH!
