If someone asks you what you want for a special public event, then takes it upon themselves to church it up because they like to think they know better than you, but the end result is not the thing you specifically asked for… they’re trying to control you in subtle, “socially acceptable” ways.

A lot of people will do things like that in a partnership and point to your less than positive reaction as if you’re the one that did wrong. Why ask if you’re just going to disregard it?
