@taylormetrics In many years Russ had larger usage because of role and his team’s offensive limitations. KD gets pretty much only high value touches when Russ brings the ball up. And Harden played in the most efficient Helio-centric system in history. Incomparable to peak Russ’s situations.

@taylormetrics But the problem with this is that interpreting usage is a contextual. Usage should only be used to downscale impact relative to the best alternative in an offensive system, otherwise it just becomes a glorified proxy for production efficiency rather than a scale for impact.

He literally has a top 10 career playoff RAPM up to 2019 which is higher than guys like CP3, Kobe and Dirk. He only fell off due to injuries and reduced role later on. Don’t try to rewrite history.

@7sixersin7 @nekhoops Russ is not a bad team defender at all. Malone subs him in for specific late game possessions SPECIFICALLY because he is a positive impact defender and he often guards the opposing star player who ends up taking the final shot
