I still can't get over this, one of the most important "natural experiments" to come from COVID:

It's all right there in front of us, a free lunch pathway to reducing some of the most immense cruelty in our society.
a very goofy part of gamedev is that there's a paper-thin line between tasks that take five minutes and tasks that take five days, and it's nearly impossible to express precisely where that line is
This past weekend The Game Devs of Color Expo @GDoCExpo celebrated creators of color in gaming! This #MelaninMonday I'm sharing a few games that caught my eye including titles from @VividFoundry, @jelpiparade, @perfectgarbo & more! https://t.co/lNLQj1u0oW

Not to sound like a mid-2000s indie RPG forum poster, but system matters! When a TTRPG has a combat bias, the game's design, worldbuilding, art, etc. are all going to bend with that bias. If you want to go beyond the "low hanging fruit" changes re: race, you have to address that.
Though it obviously "supports" a wide range of play, across its editions (with some variation) D&D has always best encouraged player expressivity with its combat mechanics, spells, and abilities. There are more (and more exciting) rules for fighting than anything else.
This commenter on Linda's story doesn't know it but they are literally identifying what I think is the core issue with D&D and race that they're basically doing like an invert quote of what I told WaPo two years ago.

THE UCP RAISED THE COST OF YOUR INCOME TAX, ELECTRICITY, INSURANCE, SCHOOL FEES, PARKS FEES, PROPERTY TAX AND TUITION...WHICH CUMULATIVELY COST YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS...THEN THEY SET UP A $50 REBATE AND RAN AN EXPENSIVE AD CAMPAIGN CALLED "PUTTING IT BACK IN ALBERTANS' POCKETS"
There are numerous issues with the presentation of mixed races in #OneDND.
DND’s mechanisation of race makes depicting mixed races fraught with issues because of the specific kinds of racism we face – such as blood quantums and being seen as “parts of” or not “full” people. 1/16
