Today marks a historic moment for the Northeast. Assam is holding its budget session in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Assembly, Kokrajhar. Why is this significant?

For 35 years, no CM, minister, or political leader of Assam dared to hold public meetings in Bodoland—a land once plagued by insurgency, separatist demands, and unrest.

From 1985 to 2020, Bodoland was synonymous with violence. But in 2020, history changed. Under the initiative of PM @narendramodi and Bodo leaders, especially @PramodBoroBTR, a joint agreement was signed, leading to the creation of BTR, an autonomous region within Assam. In just five years, Bodoland has shifted from conflict to progress, focusing on education, sports, and governance—choosing integration over separation.

Yet, here’s the irony—when violence erupts in the Northeast, like the Manipur crisis, it dominates headlines. But when a region like Bodoland finds peace, it barely makes news. After all, peace isn’t "masala" for Delhi’s media. #BodolandModelofPeace

On February 17, Assam will achieve a historic milestone as Kokrajhar, once a hub of Bodoland agitation, hosts a special one-day Assembly session. A key agenda will be strengthening the administration of 6th Schedule areas, with the Governor’s Address as a major highlight.

This moment is a high point of my tenure as Chief Minister. It has been made possible by Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi’s unwavering love for Assam and the guidance of Hon’ble Home Minister @AmitShah . Their leadership continues to drive our journey toward peace, stability, and progress.
