My makeup didn’t survive motherhood. Lily said luxury makeup is overrated anyway. Itʼs fine, perhaps it’s a sign she’s destined to be a supermodel like her father.
“Besides,” he added in that effortlessly drawl she knew so well, “everything that’s mine has had an unfortunate habit of becoming yours.”
His gaze settled on her wedding ring before returning to her eyes.
“And I must say that’s turned out rather brilliantly for me.”

Gavin had finished everything early.
The paperwork was done, his phone abandoned somewhere in the house, and he’d spent the last hour letting the babies monopolise his attention before they were whisked away by their grandma.
Now there was nothing left to do but wait.
“If you’re going to keep stealing from my plate for the rest of our lives, the least I can do is make certain you receive the best bits.”
He leaned back in his chair, unable to suppress the affectionate smile tugging at his lips.
He flashed her the same boyish grin she’d fallen in love with years ago.
“And for the record, baby…” he added, entirely unapologetic, “…that condition has already been breached.”
